Ludicrous! Jamie has to wait TEN days until he can discover how much final dosh he has to try to tempt three more players to stay. Unless a sponsor is likely to appear in that time, what sort of message does it send to those players? "Hang about for ten days, while the new season is fast-approaching, and we may have the money to offer one or two of you a deal".
This seems a tad unfair on Jamie who sorted out the Arsenal friendly. I know that money is tight and that the club is probably having to pay some bills, but to try to get through a season with just 16 players is asking an awful lot. It is also short-sighted. If we want to try to earn some money from a decent FA Cup run it could be scuppered by early season injuries to a small squad. And while loans from Charlton and Millwall are to be welcomed, it is most unlikely that they will let us field players in FA Cup matches.
Also, why do we name our triallists? Surely it puts them in the shop window and attracts the attention of other clubs - and that must make it even more difficult to try to reach a deal with them when we have just "advertised" for more competitors? It is bad enough losing Junior Dadson, I hope we can keep hold of the other players Jamie wants.
From a financial point of view, it should also be borne in mind that we will have more lucrative, local, fixtures, this season. But I bet the crowds will be lower than expected if our earlier results suffer through want of a bigger squad.

Just a thought, but is the WSU running 'sponsor a goal' this season? Hopefully that could help Jamie out. Also, I wonder whether SAG could include the remaining friendlies so that we fans can help boost the budget in whatever little way we can? Perhaps I was harsh on the club in my earlier post, and I know that Jamie is pleased with the quality of the players he has already signed, but it is so frustrating to see so many talented players slip from our grasp.

Its hard when you cant throw 10-12k at a budget. The trick is to get players as good as them on a 3rd of their budget and Jamie looks to have done a great job.
Bertie if you want to give more money to the club, there are ways of doing it, Club Shop, Sponsor a match, Sponsor a ball, Sponsor a player, Advertising Hoarding, Shirt Sponsorship, Advert in the programme or a cash donation.
Sponsor a goal for Friendlies is a bit excessive and Erith and Dartford Town could get smashed about 15-0.
