Hi Wings fans,
You won't be pleased to read this, but BBC Radio Kent are sending a reporter to the Maidenhead United v Bromley game today - despite saying that both Bromley and Welling United were in the BBC London region!

As I cover teams in Blue Square Bet South, Ryman Premier, Ryman One North, Ryman One South and Kent League, I'm disappointed about their lack of coverage for teams below the Blue Square Bet South!

Cheers for that Stephen, as far as i know the only Bromley game they covered last year, was surprise, surprise the FAC game with Colchester, lets hope both Bromley & Welling continue to do well to keep BBC Dover, sorry Kent under pressure, Keep up the good work with your excellent website

Woking game may be covered but only because Radio Surrey cover loads of live comms for Woking so Radio Kent could take their reports or commentary. It would only be as an after thought. away games which is what they are doing with other clubs (Dover, Darford, Ebbsfleet) including live commentarys would be better and what the others are getting week in week out.

Davison says we will get coverage depending on how well we are doing and weve lost 1 game are in 5th and performing miracles under an embargo. Utter crap as usual from Mr BBC Gillingham and Charlton. I hope unless they give us equal coverage we ban the BBC from PVR.

Not good enough.

Banning the BBC from PVR is ok unless we get into round 2 or round 3 of the FA Cup and draw someone really good at home, and we would lose the tv money.

One of the ties of the round tomorrow Braintree v Welling a great chance for Radio Kent to cover 4th placed Welling for the FIRST time this season...

Oh well never mind. As Davison was saying our coverage depends on how well we are doing this year.

Dartford and Websfleet are showing we need to be also rans to get coverage.

Its time to ban them i think, when we play their favorites, i dont think they have even had a interview with Jamie this season, i was caught up in the tube delays & couldnt get to Braintree for the FAC match, them jokers were giving the score out as 0-0 near the end, no problems with the Dover & Dartford scores though, they are a total disgrace.

I agree with the ban. I would like the club to ban them immediately and announce it that after a very good start to the season they had blanket coverage and many many live commentarys of all the other kent clubs this season DESPITE Davison saying we would be covered and the amount of coverage would depend on how well we were doing. 1 Loss and no coverage.

If we ban them now then they cant cover their favourite clubs when at welling and affect our gate on the day due to live commentary or updates.


Ban them.

Totally agree with this ban them from the ground until we are treated as equals along with Dartford, Websfleet and Dover.

They had a bloke at Needham Market today who must be a Websfleet fan. 

JGFC can you offer to do this for Wings games? Lets put the ball in their court.

Ive filmed every game this year except the braintree cup game, so no.
I can show someone how to do it. Before Websfleet did it Radio Kent wanted to take Radio Wings streams and put ISDN in at the club, the club at the time said no. So Radio Kent did it with Ebbsfleet instead. They hadnt done internet comms from Non league until then and they liked what we were doing so they went off and did their own with Websfleet.

If we have a couple of people who would do it, i could show them and we could get hold of Andy Garland at the BBC again and see if he would still do it. Radio Kent would then take what comms they want and broadcast it on the web or mw or fm.

I can also do Radio Wings for one offs at any time as i have the server still. So if we cant film somewhere we could do the radio again but full time its a no from me at the moment at least.

They have only had reporters at 2 games all season that have not involved Ebbsfleet, Dartford & Dover,so other clubs have the right to feel unhappy, great coverage though of them great Kent sides Charlton, & Blackheath RFC double standards Mr Davidson?i thought they might cover our Woking match but No, i wouldnt mind betting they try to cover a home game just before we play one of their favorites but i really hope we refuse them permission to cover the games against their favorites starting with Dartford on New Years day

The only Bromley comms they have done was at Dartford & home to Ebbsfleet surprise, surprise, the commentator for the ebbsfleet game was the usual Charles webster, who their website says is a vice president at Ebbsfleet, he called Bromley & Welling london clubs Davidson agreed, they had a reporter at Bromleys away match at Maidenhead when they had a 100% record, but no commentary.im sure they will want to do comms on Dover, Dartford & Ebbsfleet games at Welling, bet they wont want the Bromley game though

Its even worse when you hear what Davison said about you will get coverage depending on how you do and hes doing Dartford all the time. Absolute farce and a liar. I would love it if they are told dont bother doing games v Dartford, Ebsfleet and Dover and the reason why so they have to tell their listeners its because he has gone against his word live on air.

So would i, i bet they were hoping both us & Bromley would struggle, to get them out of a hole, i would love if it if both us & Bromley finish in the top two, (Wings Top)while The Darts are sinking down lower in the table

Its discrimination that Radio Kent display that helps breed rivalry and also gets peoples backs up. Id love Jamie to take us up and we tell them to feck off if they want to cover us.

Its simply a BBC problem, Radio Kent have covered us NOT Radio London/GLR etc. You can understand Davisons view, but then Radio London should cover us if they dont. But then to see Davison say in print and then say it on air that we will get covered and depends on how we do. Then to be completely ignored while every other club in Kent in this league get plenty of live comms and reporters at every match, its just a farce.

Then of course they cover Blackheath!!!! and Charlton.

Once we are out of this HMRC thing we need to take it further, im sure he cant say he will cover us and then not do it and justify the coverage he gives to Dartford, surely theres some licence payers guidelines hes breaking notwithstanding the unprofessionalism and lies hes churned out.

Bromley and Welling are in the BBC London transmission area but then so are..

Arsenal
Barnet
Brentford
Charlton
Chelsea
Crystal Palace
Dagenham & Redbridge
Fulham
Leyton Orient
Millwall
QPR
Tottenham
Watford
West Ham
Wimbledon
Hayes & Y
Boreham Wood
Hampton & Richmond

In the Kent transmission patch (to conf south level) are;

Gillingham
Welling
Bromley
Dover
Dartford
Ebbsfleet

Looking at how many clubs London has at conf south level and above it's no surprise we get very little coverage from BBC London.

As for BBC Radio Kent I've no idea if they feel they have to cover more clubs like Faversham, Sittingbourne etc. I feel we should be covered more by Radio Kent as we are a Kent club regardless if we're at the far north west region or far south east region. If we're lucky enough in the future to also get coverage from BBC London then we'll take it and count ourselves lucky to be in two transmission patches.

Until then we're not getting anything like the coverage we should.

Frankly the cover we get is embarrasing. The teams in the lower Kent leagues seem to get more coverage than we do and certainly Dover and Bromley get more mention that we do.

On Sat. they went from 0-0 scoreline to the Wings and the next time we got a mention we were 3-0 up. In the past we used to get updates from the game.

Good old Tudor Jones (RIP) would have put things straight-when he got on the air he wouldnt get off!

No coverage today but Davison did say we were unchanged line up before kick off and after the game also said if we hadnt had 5 points taken away we would be joint top and said Well done Welling (bless him, see we do exist).

Pretty dismal that we could be the top Kent club soon in non league football and not get any coverage. We are already above Davisons Darlings (most kent side in Non league)

On way home from Ebbsfleet had BBC Radio London on in car. To my surprise the commentator stated "in Blue Square South Bromley have drawn".
Though they didn't do non league and isn't Bromley also a part of London occupied Kent?

Just seen on the BBC Kent website,  they are doing web commentary of Welling V Tonbridge tomorrow, its obviously being done from a Tonbridge perspective as they are another club that has not had a reporter at this season, my gut feeling is that they are only covering it as the Ebbsfleet match has been switched to Tuesday, i think we should have banned them.

Before Letters are sent to MP etc, why dont we do the obvious and invite them down to cover a game - and or do a programme about the 42 supporters - (unique angle for any journo), they may feel more sympathic if they sit in our press box and have a pint in the bar.


Would be interested to see what they would do if, Welling, Dover, Bromley and Ebbsfleet were the four play off places ?

davison will be in chatham. They will probably sent pete or greenie. They arent the issue. Its davison hes biased and lied to us on air. Unlike good broadcasters like duncan jones and nick mullins who moved on, davison has stayed there. They cover us only when it suits them and this is the first live web commentary. The last one v tonbridge they messed up.

We aint missing anything, After Radio Kent failing to do the Commentary from Tonbridge game as their equipment wouldnt work, they then did Dartford and that too fecked up for chunks of it. Then today they had 3 drop outs in the forst half one for a few minutes then in the second it failed again for ages and they went to Bromley game then they came back.

No wonder Andy Garland asked me if they could take radio wings. If fans can stream in high quality and stable, why are Radio Kent so useless they cant stream a game without great chunks missing through the game.

Matt Gerrard tried to be impartial but the goon co comentating was terrible and firmly supporting dover. Gerrard would have been much better on his own, he was reasonable. He did at least keep mentioning Welling are a kent side.

 Overheard one of the commentators say to the other they cant hear us in the studio due to the shouting. So I made sure I gave a very loud Come On Welling next time he started to commentate.

The "goon" with MG was about 12 years old! Listening to RK on the way home Matt Gerrad did say that Welling did not deserve to lose the game which we did not!
