If thats the case Mark you would think we need to raise a chunk to gain an extension of time to pay. and if we do raise a massive chunk of what was owed that must go for us as they will see there is a good chance they will get their money, rather than closing us down. That we have tried to pay the debts and are worth giving a few months to raise the rest.
I just hope the players get fired up and go out and kick arse as that will bring in extra fans.
Any chance of a big friendly vs Spurs or West Ham etc? That could bring in 20k

Yes I agree.....It is a bit like people who get into debt....the creditors like some being paid
BUT
And here is the rub
If we lost 50k in 2008/9
and
50k in 2009/10
We need to stop us losing 50k in 2010/11
We need a buyer asap....I just wonder whether someone will come in now thinking they will get it cheap
God Knows who the mystery benefactor is/or was....but to trail the club along and then pull out is ****!!!!
I am trying to be positive...!!!!
I agree I hope the team really does it on the pitch...if nothing else it would make us a better buying option.....rather than a team at the bottom with no prospects!!!
Still....roll on Saturday....get behind the team and the club and hope....many other teams have come through this
Any chance of a big friendly vs Spurs or West Ham etc? That could bring in 20k
I actually came on here to suggest something like that. I don't see why we only play pro clubs during the summer. Friendly games against pro clubs could be arranged at pretty much any time of the season, as clubs always want to get top players back to full fitness. A couple of big friendlies and that's the debt gone. I don't think Arsenal would want to play us again though :D
Maybe we could get some Charlton reserve games here during the season or reserve games involving Millwall/Crystal Palace/Gillingham.

Get another 200 on the gate a week Mark and you arent losing 50k a year. Or bite the bullet and reduce the budget for 1000 a week and try and build off the pitch and become reborn.
Posters, Advertising, Press getting behind us, Local radio adopting us, News articles on London TV. Sponsors. Its possible but we have to get some connection with the local community and also the local businesses.
We can do it by getting fans in. We need to be more professional more media and marketing savvy and get every bean we can.

Chelsea and Spurs agreeing to send a few well known faces would go a long way to helping. Lets hope Daisy can wangle them and if Daisy has to blood a few Youth or academy as well as give his first team 45 mins then so be it. But 1 game needs to be organised for inside 2 weeks probably on a thursday.
Get Andy Townsend to help he must have some contact at Chelsea or know someone who does. And Finnan can help at Fulham. Both are millionaires after getting noticed at Welling United. A LITTLE help will be much appreciated.
Then we can try for a couple of Friendlies v West Ham and Fulham or something during the season.
In fact go for West Ham as one of the first ones as Avram Grant will empathise that we are under the cosh from the tax man. And its not too far for their supporters. Keith Rowlands could help us get that one sorted.

The best support we can give is to turn up to every match, buy a program and some merch or at least a cup of tea, anything else is a bonus. If everyone tries to bring an extra friend/family member that will be the start of a recovery although we do need to know how much is left, it must be at least as much as we have already paid. Good luck to the boys on saturday, hope this doesn't undo the good work on the pitch.
No chance of getting a game on with West Ham due to what happend with Millwall thugs a couple of years ago.
I went to that game and found the antics of the Millwall supporting teenagers quite interesting.
Oh well, games against any other pro clubs would be good. In Italy there is a competition called the TIM Cup. What happens is that Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan play one match against each of the other teams in the same evening. Each match only last 45 minutes! It makes for a different type of football and is fun to watch. You could have a similar thing at PVR, with Welling playing against Millwall and Charlton, with some sort of trophy presented at the end of the evening. This sort of event would make a lot of money for the club. Doesn't have to be Millwall and Charlton though, could be any two pro sides really.
I've just come back from a couple of days away at a funeral, so have only just looked at the site. What a total shock! I always thought that this would never hapen to us, as we've always been a low-spending club (apart from those heady days of the late 80s and early 90s when we actually used to pay transfer fees).
If the 500 core fans can donate £100 each then that'll cover most of the debt. I suspect, however, that this is lot of money in one go for most people (and there'll also be a few people who'll want a bit more transparency of how the club is run before donating sums), but I reckon we could easily get 100 of us to give £100. Okay, it's not the full £55k owed, but it's £10k to put towards the sum and would demonstrate to the court that there is a lot of work and willingness to pay the debt.
It's not too late for the club to have the suggested draw for a sponsor, although with our financial plight now being public knowledge, some businesses may not be as keen to participate. I'm also expecting that we'll get zero help from Bexley Council - if they couldn't help us when they had a big budget they sure as hell won't help us now.
I think the only way to raise such money quickly is for fans of other clubs to help us out. Despite all the banter, I think that fans of most other clubs know that we're a club who hasn't tried to buy success, who has tried to live within their means, and I'm sure that most decent fans will do all they can to help us. I certainly appreciate that Charlton fans (and I never thought I'd say that) who have pledged to come to our home matches.
I wasn't going to buy a season ticket this time, but I might just give the club a call now and get myself one for the Exec lounge. Every little helps. Which actually gives me an idea that with a big Tesco moving into the town, I wonder if they would be interested in some positive PR for helping out the local club?
We've obviously been losing money for some time, or avoided losing money by not paying some of the bills where deadlines could be avoided or extended or missed.
My worry is that even if we raised the 55k that is needed what will stop us losing more money as the season goes on, and next season, etc etc.
The income into the clubs coffers off the field is so poor compared to many others in the league its a joke. Ive visited almost every away ground in our division this season and we are in the bottom half when it comes to the maintenance of the ground, the bar, sponsorship, club shop, etc etc etc.
Even the very limited appeal of the club bar, club shop, etc only exists because people volunteer.
THERE NEED TO BE MASSIVE CHANGES. However, there is no time.
Lets raise the money and save our club and show what a decent group Welling United really is BUT lets also make sure that this never happens again.
No more talk of changes, lets bloody do it. If we can all suddenly rally together for this, then why not continue to do it monthly throughout the coming seasons and take Welling United up a level. This is what will bring people through the gate more regularly.
We all have a big part to play.

Which raises the conundrum of whether you would actually want him now given what has happened. Immediate desperation versus long term uncertainty? A nice dilemma. NOT!
I know this is going to make you all laugh, but his London based, loves football, & is rolling in it.....so if Mr JGFC, you seem to be the man with the pc skills & know how to track people down, why try Mr Mike Ashley, you never know he may be will to help, & a good bit of pr for him ...... Hay its i idear ...
Still in shock and still angry the Hobbins had let it get so bad.We could have been informed earlier instead we get two weeks to sort their mess out.
To be fair CJ - they thought they had a buyer and problems would be resolved. In which case there was no need to let us know (you could argue about transparacy but Welling are a private company and we have no actual right to know). As it turns out they were badly let down at the last minute leaving us in this mess.
Look what happens to new members on here who express a point of view they get ridiculed by a certain person just got one thing to say be careful who you have a go at on here becuase you dont know who they are,
It cannot help one time you haVe a man on here running everyone down and now he is calling for people to donate money we should get a friendly against a big club etc etc, well the same people he as had a go at will possibly not want to know,
Dogme, ignore people like that. Bruno has had to ban someone for having 2 or 3 accounts for constantly having digs at Welling and making out they support Welling over a number of months.
It was odds on they would come back to try and stick the knife in on a fresh account
Id have a big bet at odds on that them back again trying to stir. Bruno will deal with it if he finds anything out.
Just ignore them we have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

I know who you are referring to. He is helping to sort things out at the club and has come up with a lot of good ideas. As for him 'ridiculing' people, who cares. He can do what he wants. I'll sometimes come on here and make suggestions, people either make creative comments in reply or they don't, i don't give a **** either way to be honest, then I'll come back and make more suggestions. I'm an adult, people will disagree with me from time to time, and i certainly won't be put off making suggestions by people on the internet that I've never met!
