This thread is for ideas and also for people who will come forward and help and give their time.
Time is of the essence so anything mentioned in here would need to be set in motion by early next week at the latest.
Well we could ask Finnan and Barron if he can knock up a legends XI for a match. I would try and get Danny Dyer and a few others there if hes not away filming.
We could ask celebs to get a charity match going and try and get a few A listers down, see above.
We could all ask our bosses if they would sponsor the club for 10k or sponsor a match for £xxx.
We could push the Executive Lounge membership or have a Freinds of Welling or Vice presidents package for VIP Fans (People with money).
We could all get to every possible home game we can and drag along others.
Posters will be produced by me and i want you all to take a few to your local shops they will include an emotional tagline such as Help Save your local club
We HAVE to go on Charlton, Arsenal and Millwall websites and other big teams West Ham, Spurs etc etc and ask then to support us for a few weeks. IF we could get 2000 plus in for a few games it would go a long way to securing our future. It is possible but we need to get on tehir forums and get threads going, not just say come and watch us play please.
I will also knock up a Sponsor Welling Flyer with other sponsiorship options on it to in A5 does anyone know any printers who would print off loads for free, also would need 10 people to drop them through business letter boxes in Welling Sidcup Bexley Crayford Bexleyheath
Get phoning up Talksport, Radio Kent, your on sky sports, 5 Live getting the plight put across as these avenues sometimes fine a mystery donator. Email sky sports news too.
Do you know any celebrity people? If you do then email them for some help whether financial or as something they could donate that would make decent money. If you got enough stuff in then an auctioning campain could happen on Ebay.
Have you got a personal number plate thats worth a few quid and you would donate it to be auctioned?
Post up some of your ideas Also if you want to help then put your hand up.
Theres is at least ONE thing in the above list that you all can do. Add your own ideas and plans below.

If Keith Gillard, Mike Floate or other Snappers who have photos from Wellings Fa Cup matches or distant past could PM me, or Email James at info@wellingunited.com as they will be handy for the Flyers and Leaflets and Bumph trying to get people involved in the campaign and fund raising.
Digital form is preferable.

3: wait until we know the actual nature and size of the problem.
I appreciate that in situations like this people want to do something / anything to try and restore "normality", but we dont actually know the full extend of the debt, nor the nature as to how it has occured, nor what HMRC want to do about, or are willing to do about it.
There are many aspects of this business that we have no knowledge about, including any criminal aspects that HNRC may or may not have under review.
We cannot act effeciently without information.
You cannot solve a problem without defining it. At the moment the only information we have is that the club owes HMRC an undisclosed sum of money. We dont even know what tax laws have been broken, if any.
3: wait until we know the actual nature and size of the problem.
I totally agree with you. I can't believe some of the hysteria on these forums today. I'll continue to remain positive unless the club make an official announcement saying (in other words) 'yep, the club is ****ed!' .
What i suggest to anyone that goes to a significant number of home games each season, is buy a season ticket, if you don't own one already that is. Oh and buy stuff in the clubshop more often. Shirts would be the obvious choice as far as making money for the club is concerned. Then there are little things like buying match programmes, actually spending money in the bar instead of going to that ****hole over the road, and paying an extra pound to sit in the stands, unless you absolutely HAVE to stand behind the goal that Welling are attacking.
They wont be wound up on the 25th. Its a Winding Up Petition, Not a winding up Order. But if we dont pay. Then the winding up order comes, dont pay that and its good night vienna Welling United instantly in court. Unless you can get into administration or CVA.
Then you are into Fisher, Hornchurch territory and renaming the club and coming back in the bottom tier of the Ryman or Southern League at best more likely County Level.

But with that brings relegations/demotions etc. So raising the money or the bulk of it to get the Tax Man to back off or give a longer time extension to pay is the only way forward.

The only good thing to come out of this is we'll see who really loves the club and who doesn't. The attendance on Saturday and amount of money spent at the ground will be interesting.

I havent seen the letter, that may give more info. Howver, working from what we have been told officially, and I think the fact that the date of the hearing and the amount owed are not quoted may be very significant, we have no idea what we are up against.
Although I appreciate what JGFC and others are trying to do to save the club, there are a couple of points that we need to considor.
1: Would HMRC be convinced by the fund-raising events, especially if this wasnt a simple tax misunderstanding.
2: I have followed this club since it arrived at PVR, but I am not convinced that I should blindly throw money into this problem. The floodlight appeal was fine; that was an act of God, and although some might say that maybe we should have been a little more pro-active with our maintainance checks, we did get a licence to operate. However, this is the work of man. It may be a simple series of mistakes, or it may be something else.
We would be able to appraise the situation better if we had more info.

well i cant make due to a stag do but ive already got my season ticket - but im going to try for tuesday and ill get a shirt
Dave, if you dont want to help then fine. Dont stop those that do though.
My understanding is that We have 2 weeks to pay a substantial sum of money or face a winding up petition that is the first stages of possibly seeing this club go out of business.
If you dont want to throw money at that, thats fine. Allow others to try and help rather than slag off the club.

I Think we can show our support by turning up to tomorrow's Band Nite gig (THE FEELERZ) even if the music is not to your taste, its still much needed money for the club and its another way of financial support. At £5 a ticket and 80 people in brings in £400.00 then there is Money from raffle plus monies over the bar.
Its A small start but the longest walks start with small steps.
Can someone contact TG and see whats in WUISA account and also despite people driving the man away. He was different class than WSU etc in raising money. So you need to get him on board he would arrange some benefit nights and bring in money.
Whoever is high up in WSU and has some sense can you please get hold of Terry Grant immediately, you NEED him.

Firstly, we did you get the information re the two weeks from? Is it quoted in the letter, or do you have other sources? Please expand.
Also I would appreciate it if you dont try and put words in my mouth. I have noticed over the years that you have an unfortunate tendency to attack anyone who disagrees, even in the slighest way, with you. Consequently do not and twist my commentgs into something they were not intended to be. I would most humbly point out that this is a public internet forum, where differing opinions, the lifeblood of debate and therefore democracy, are encouraged. Your somewhat "Stalinist" view that anyone who disagrees with the "party" line (even if this line is your and yours alone) must be verbally assulted at once, is odious in extremis to most of us.
I have spoken to several fellow supporters this morning, and the one thing that they all agreed on is the fact that you are being attacked on the league forum was very, very funny. I think that someone like yourself, who obviously has the well being of the club at heart, is so despised by fellow supporters is a truely sad and sobering thought. Therefore but for the will of God etc....
Also I would like to point out that I am not "slagging" the club off. I am merely offering the possibility that events may be different from what is being stated on the forum. As we have practically no information being offered publically by either the club or HMRC (I have checked their website), all comments are speculative in nature and therefore practically worthless.
I appreciate that you want to do something / anything to help. I would suggest that everyone on this forum, as true supporters, wishes to do the same, but I would to prefer to define and understand the problem first, then solve it. Trying to solve the problem before we know what it is is a pointless waste of a energy.
JGFC. If you have more information than what is available to the rest of us, then please publish here so the rest of us less fortunate individuals may be able to play a full and meaniful part in the saving of our club.
Dave , Well done on the personal attack. Post gossip and unsubstantiated crap you cant back up. Your previous post was a dig at the club and stated you wont be throwing any money at them. Then you are pulled up on it and get personal.
Class, top class. Well while you and your anonymous little mates all sit there and do fk all. Let others try and help sort this.
Where do i have this info from? None of your business but im obviously much more in the know and confided in than you are .
If you dont want to help in this critical time fine. Missing you already. Youve shown your colours.

From Major Club Statement Thread posted by Chelwing.
A Petition to wind up the above-named Company, Registration Number 02584003, of The Ground, Parkview Road, Welling, Kent DA16 1SY, presented on 6 July 2010 by the Commissioners for HM Revenue and Customs, of Bush House, Strand, London WC2B 4RD, claiming to be Creditors of the Company, will be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London WC2A 2LL, on 25 August 2010, at 1030 hours (or as soon thereafter as the Petition can be heard).
From this I take it we have already used 6 weeks of our grace period, albeit we have stumped 30k since this was published. Still in the brown stuff but obviously less financial claim.
Suggests it will be heard on 25th unless Portsmouth, Cardiff and Southend are still taking up the court's time!
There are two points here.
1) Those of us of long standing think things might be done differently but it was a redundant argument all the time financial probity was exercised along with the control of the current set up.
2) There is a reasonably urgent need to stump up the readies as (with my Southend hat on) it is evident they are going to nail someone in the end or get their money trying. Neither is a poor outcome in their view if it scares everyone else into paying.
If you don't satisfy 2 you won't have 1 to talk about but some may be reluctant to buy into 2 whilst 1 persists. Both equally valid positions. It is unfortunate that we only have two weeks to iron them out instead of the eight when the petition appears to have been presented.

Good points.
Personally I dont think we are big enough for HMRC to use us as a "showpiece" prosecution, but they are starange creatures and prone to do what they want.

Just a thought, but have the club tried to formulate a payment plan with HMRC?
If we could do this, and satisfy the demands of HMRC, especially if we guarantee to fully meet the debt over a period of time, then, and perhaps I am being a bit dumb, it would be a posative outcome for both parties. The hearing ceases to be a possible swansong, and instead becomes nothing more than a ratification meeting. Could be over in 10 minutes.
As i have said before, the country needs money and it is HMRC's job to find it; no matter where they have to look. We dont own our ground, so they cannot sieze that, and we are not important / high profile enough to slaughter for effect.
Sometime in September. Its champions league night on ITV 3. Its half time. Man Utd are losing 4-0 at home to Skonta Riga. After the abysmal Man U defending has been analysed from every angle, Adrian Childs turn to Andy Townsend and says,
"So Andy, I hear your first club went bust last month"
Andy thinks for a minute, and then says, with obvious disbelief "What Norwich"
Childs shakes his head. "No Andy, the one before that"
Townsend again thinks "Weymouth?"
Childs shakes his head again. "No. Before that. The one that Radio Kent thinks is in London, and the South London Press thinks is in Kent."
Andy looks blank for several moments, when suddemly realisation creeps across his face with the speed of a fat boy going to gym class.
"Oh you mean Brom.. No, oh what were they called? Welling, that it Welling. Have they gone bust?"
Childs: "yes, tax problems"
Townsend: "oh well, its dog eat dog out there. Now back to tonights game and let me show you again why Ferdinand was at fault for the first, third and fourth Riga goals.
And we pass into the dustbin of history. Not with a bang: not with a whimper, but sound reminicent of a cat being sick upstairs. Vaguely within earshot, but not enough to disturb.
If HMRC want us crucified they want people to know about it. You cannot "pour encourage l'auto" when no one knows where the example is being shown.
We might get more Charlton fans turning up than people think. They beat Leyton Orient yesterday 3-1, so the fans should be in a good mood and want to help us out more :D
There have been a spate of negative posts about the club and personal attacks on one forum user which on tracing give reason to believe that it is one person using different identities. Looking at the IP address of the poster it falls within the range of IP addresses used and the content being yet another personal attack I have deleted the content. bruno

In my haste to get out and pick up goods for the Club Shop I neglected to say that in my view the poster concerned was doing so with malicious intent, hence the bans issued previously.

My cup of coffee has inspired me. How about the WSU get some posters made featuring action from various games. They would sell, and I'd buy a few. Also, starting from next year maybe a club calendar could be made. I would definitely get one of those.
WSU are already working on a calendar for 2011 Dogme.
I stand to be corrected by others but I seem to recall there was also some discussion about posters but I'm not sure how far that has got. With limited resources it is not possible to act on all of the ideas which are considered but that does not mean nothing will happen since once a project is up and running there may be resource available to pick up on other projects.
While in the general area of posters etc look out for more news about the auction night where there will be signed football memorabilia in the next few days.
