What are peoples thoughts on Joe Healy? ive seen quite a bit of him and i really rate him i think he is an amazing player, like a young Matt Le Tissier. Not like some of these hand grenades weve got at the moment. Great addition to the squad, i know he was with us previously but only briefly then left and whats to say he wont leave us again when the going gets tough such as the club being in turmoil at the moment, i hope not though! thoughts please...

Admire his effort and the fact that he so obviously wants to do well.  Probably not the most gifted of players, but happy that he is back with us.

Perhaps Mr Day can turn him into a better player?  Hope so.

There is a post on a millwall site saying Joe Healy is not taking his wages as the club is in financial worries.

IF that is true then he needs to be applauded.

Attitude and work rate have been top class this time round. Played necessarily out of position today but put in a shift.

Charlie 22, i would have to question your ability to rate a good player if you think Healy is 'not that gifted'. He's as slow as a cart horse but his touch and vision are up there with the best. I would suggest you actually watch a game that he's playing in next time my son rather than playing on your game boy or whatever you youngsters do these days.

if the Healy boy is also putting his hand in his pocket to help out the club then youve gota give him a pat on the back. i bet some of these other players weve got wouldnt put there hand in there pockets, you know what ones im talking about...

Joe is better this time around than he was before, hes effective on the left and doesnt stop running or trying.

Id like to aplogise for mugging him off earlier, his play and character THIS TIME AROUND suggest he is a good and strong member of the squad.

Id like to see him score a hatrick, take his shirt off and go and dance with the corner flag though.

Malcolm. NONE of the players have to give their wages or a proportion of back to the club. If any do then thats great and they should be applauded. All i read on a Millwall site is that Healy doesnt want his wages as the club are trying to raise money. I have no idea if its true.

Malcolm , get Joe on the glucose and sugar just before games, Will give him an explosion of pace. Also please check out with the physio this is safe before doing it and that he is not diabetic.

I have spoken at some length with 2 players over the weekend and they paint a different picture to that which you have.

I think you are falling into the same trap as Spurfect did in another thread . I very much doubt that you know exactly what players attitudes are and what they may or may not have done/are doing and yet you post a very critical comment about unidentified players.

I have to say that the posts you have made on the forum have all been PR for Joe who has certainly played better than he did when previously at PVR. Believe it or not Joe is part of a squad of players, many of whom have taken a pay cut from last season or have rejected other clubs who have offered them more money. That speaks volumes in my book about not only the players and but particularly Jamie who has managed to assemble a start of season squad with more potential than other I can recollect in all my years at PVR.  I mean no disrespect some of the sides we have seen who in my opinion achieved what they did more through their team ethic and spirit than future potential.

Particularly at this difficult time lets give the TEAM our support and confine our comments to what they do on the pitch and not what we think or don't think they are or are not doing off of it.

Ive spoke to a couple of players who both say that the team spirit is unbelievable and this is probably shown by the fact in this day and age and climate. NOT ONE PLAYER jumped ship when some poo poo hit the fan, this has kept our team stable and let the club and the fans make great strides in raising large sums of money in days.

I think the club, players and fans have a lot to be proud of. Lets kick on and ignore any doubters or stirrers as they are in the overwhelming minority.

Too right Bruno - if the team performs - people will hopefully come through the gate. That is the biggest contribution that the team can make.

Sorry, Tom. ... not a good idea, this will only provide a "spike" of energy which will quickly finish leaving the athlete "bonked" . More important is stuff like carbo-loading.

Check out here -

http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/sportsnutrition/a/EatForExercise.htm

Hopefully the trained coaches at the club are also putting this across to the younger players .... it is probably more important for part time players than people think.

Bruno, i fully agree with you there. Perhaps i was shooting from the hip a bit with my quick to judge attitude about others not taking a cut. im only going on what ive heard through some people, probably should no better. but with regards to my comments being PR for joe i would have to disagree, in my opnion Joe is real quality and this forum is a place for opinions no matter how misguided they may be (for example ben281032 and charlie22's drivvle)
and i think he will become a real fan favourite by the end of the year. but anyway the squad are looking immense this year you are right. heres hoping

Glad to hear that, Bruno. I'm so impressed with all of the positive stuff around the club in this difficult time. Welling has some great fans who are really clubbing together .... great teamwork will produce positive results (another "old chestnut" from my antique coaching experience biggrin)

Welling also has some great attitudes amongst ALL the players as far as I can see. The management team should take a lot of credit but they have identified players who care and appear happy in celebrating each others success. That is teamwork that will produce positive results as well.

Old Coach, thanks for that. I should have known you would know that, aswell as Loui being a fitness instructor.

Not "biting", just stating my position.

If I was "biting", then you would be reading a balanced argument, with opinion, fact and couterviews.

The bizarre thing is that "Malcolm etc" is trying to have a go at me when I actually said that Mr Healy is quite a good player and I was pleased that Joe was back at the club. Obviously I wasnt "on-message" enough for him.

Strange, and a little sad.

The problem with Joe is not a lack of ability, he is more than competent for this league; nor it is his effort or commitment, both of which are first class, and in my opinion could not be bettered.  The problem with Joe, is the lack of that most intangible of assets; luck.

With average luck he word have scored a hatful of goals last time he was here.  It seemed if he made a good run no one noticed, he had a good shot and the keeper made the best save he ever made. He plays a first class pass and whomever was running onto either fell over or was fouled.  Sometimes watching from the stands it was heartbreaking seeing how much he tried and received no reward.  All the people I sit with desperately wanted him to score, but no matter what he did, that elusive final piece of the jigsaw was missing.

Fotuna dominatrix mundi.

I once thought he was similar to Hobbs IE not good enough., he probably isnt as striker at this level, BUT and its a big but.... his touch, brain, wide play and link up play is more than good enough. I was wrong and Daisy was right.

I can see why Joe is in the squad and in the team and as said his effort and attitude are first class. He is often one of the better performers in each match i have seen in his latest spell at PVR. IF he keeps it up he will be hard to leave out.

Keep it up Healy.

Of course, old chap. Only a light hearted attempt at banter - sorry. Afraid my Latin is more than 50 years ago, just tell him not to give up .... "Per Ardua Ad Astra" etc etc

Good man

re the last time you were taught Latin: I am very much in the same era.  In fact some days I feel old enough to have been here when it was the official language.

Got a great book for Xmas - Latin for dummies, a real hoot to read. about £15, Mrs got it from Waterstones at Lakeside(?).

Ah Latin that takes me back nearly 50 years to the joys of Townley Road.  Amo Amas Amat.....

Never did really understand the benefit, nor wearing short trousers till I was nearly 13

You haven't used latin for 50 years.......

Me and my good mates St. Jerome and St. Augustine were caught bunking off school and were forced to learn Latin nearly 2000 years ago.

Mind you, I've not needed it since then either.
