I understand Ilkeston Town of BSN have been wound up this morning over 50,000 unpaid to taxman. Apparently they had shown a plan - player to be sold this week for 20,000 and offered to pay remaining amount at 1,000 a month but that was not good enoughh for taxman.
It doesn't add up completely though. The transfer window is shut so how likely is it that a player would be sold for £20k? Apparently this was their third court appearance so I guess they had already had a lot of time and wonder what the original requirement was. They have now appealed so as a result they are allowed to continue playing although hampered by a transfer embargo similar to ours.
Last Thursday their chairman was quoted by www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk as saying:
......added that the tax authorities had become "slightly aggressive" over the debt left by previous owners because "not a single payment" had been made under the terms of an earlier instalment plan.
And the bad news... on wednesday Strudwick said , we will try and help them
On Thursday Strudwick refused to allow them to play Redditch...
I keep seeing strudwick say we want to help clubs... i see no evidence of it.
The explanation given yesterday was:
The Football Conference have today confirmed that the fixture scheduled for this Saturday, September 11th 2010, at The Valley Stadium has been 'postponed (not cancelled) because the official receiver is not in a position to allow the Club to trade'
