If the unthinkable happens and we are knocked out of the Cup by Braintree, it does seem possible that there could be a big consolation prize.
The 3rd qualifying round will be played on October 9th. Due to international games that week, there are no Premier League or Championship matches that weekend.
E&B are due to be away to Fisher that day so unless they knock out Hythe and are then drawn at home, PVR will be available. Even if that happened, the ground would be available Friday night or Sunday
It would seem to be the perfect opportunity to try to arrange the high profile friendly that people have been proposing and if a Premier League club could be persuaded to send down a team which included a few well known names who are not involved in the internationals, it might well produce the near sell out crowd that would make a big difference to our debt.
It would be good if Barrie or Jamie could put out some initial feelers now for if it could be done we would be in a no lose situation with either the Cup prize money or the friendly money to come in.
More chance of getting a strongish team this way. Players not involved in internationals would still leave a very good team at their disposals from their 25s.
Ask them for the friday or sunday and IF we beat Braintree ask for a second date where we realise thay cannot guarantee players that may be able too for the prefered date.
Sounds a good idea to me.

Nothing wrong with a back up plan Mark could ask clubs could we arrange a friendly on the basis we havent got a cup game. We still go hell for leather against Braintree. (Unless chelsea want to send their first team haha)

I think we've every chance of beating Braintree despite the fact that Parkinson and Coyle are suspended providing that Sambrook and Andrews are not missing due to the injuries they are carrying. But if they are, or there are any further injuries to defenders in the Woking game there is a big problem. Assuming the embargo doesn't get lifted, Sambrook, Andrews, Femi and Obersteller are the only defenders available. Any ideas who on earth Jamie can put in the back four if any of them can't play?
I think the club needs to plan for the possibility that we will not have a competitive match on October 9. In our position it has to be belts and braces.
