Why should the council help? Its not fair on companies, like mine, that dont spend what they havent got and then want help when it goes wrong. The club have not got a good name locally when it comes to paying bills, guess its all catching up with them.
I can see your point but this is an entertainment / leisure activity that if going would upset a lot of Bexley residents and also be to the detriment of some of the local pubs and fast food outlets.
JgFc, I think you are wrong to start pointing fingers at other people (like Bexley Council), before we start pointing fingers at the, what seems to be, recent mismanagement of this club.
I don't like Bexley council, but we have got to stop all this "help us we are in trouble" attitude you seem to have! Should bexley council have helped us out instead of building LEISURE facilities like Crook Log or Lamorbey, I think not. We get 500-600 people every fortnight, I don't think that constitutes spending a lot of money on us!
Now we have a deadline, let's start sorting this club out, for thr better and for the future, and that has got to start at the very top of the club.....it's their fault after all!
(By the way I have been a loyal wings fan for the past 21 years)
I have been going on about the council for years. I do not think they should give us 100k and bail us out.
I do think they should improve the ground (ala Rushmoor Council), they own it. or look into providing a leisure facility/stadium ala dartford. I also believe they should promote the club and be more active with us before promoting other clubs outside the borough and preserving some memorabilia.

Bexley have got to cut somthing like £25 million pounds. They have also had staff writing out their daily tasks to prove their jobs. Due to 2 of the big secondary schools going into 'special measures' a while back, Bexley are now to the tune of £40 million in debt to whoever. Any school that is not an academy is expected to help contribute to this debt...
...The link with Charlton is a shambles as well. It exists from the 'leisure link'-era and seemingly, they seem to get the green light to most things community focused...
As I'm not up to speed with these things, if Dartford council paid for their ground, do their leisure company run it? Because if so and it happened here, Parkwood would kill the facilities. They can't even run sports centres properly...
All in all, I sit with the majority here, but warn you that if ANYTHING comes out of Bexley Council within the next couple of years, start looking for the 'second coming'. The 'comprehensive spending review' in October should (he says) give some light on the country's finance's. But I have been told on good authority Bexley are 'brassic'...
Sue, I assume from your infrequent posts, and location, that perhaps you are not a Welling fan but creditor ?? Im sure I am wrong, but I see no other reason why someone should be so infrequent at posting, and yet so negative on this topic.
Here we have a quote from another council keen on "securing the future" of one of their clubs.
"Yes, Chairman, I'm grateful to Eleanor for clarification on page 15 about the Panfield Lane Growth Location and Braintree Town Football Club, because I know there has been, er, some confusion in the press about this. And when it reads that it's not considered this is essential infrastructure, I think you've made the distinction between that and the fact that the Council is still very keen to work with the Football Club to secure its long term future and that there is still, in our proposals, a site for a community stadium working with Braintree Town Football Club."
Come on Bexley its not too late to give a shot in the arm and even discuss a community use leisure facility and stadium with pitches, tennis? driving range? etc etc.
