Unfortunately I was unable to travel to Weston on Saturday which spoilt my 100% attendance at games this season but then being at a loose end in the afternoon I decided to make a very rare visit to see the E&B game.
Arriving at PVR early, I went into the clubhouse for a swift half and was amazed to find that the Wigan v Wolves game was being shown on the TV on Sky Sports. When I have mentioned in the past that Sky would encourage more people into the Wings clubhouse before and after games, it was said that the level of subscription charge made by Sky made it not worthwhile. In view of E&B's average gate of about 75, I wonder how on earth they manage to make it pay. Does anyone know? Are Welling missing a trick somehow?
If Erith have it at the ground then surely we can show it in our club house IF we negotiate a deal with them. All we have to do is send the picture across the pitch wirelessly which would cost about 30 quid to set up.
Pay half with Erith. It would deffo send bar takings through the roof.

Sky's normal rates for pubs/bars is now worked out on the basis of floor space and how many people could potentially view it. So the direct cost can run into hundreds a month. But the Erith deal would be a much more cost effective way of doing it.

If we asked them to upgrade their package to cover our bars then it would surely be a runner, i am sure i could negotiate with Sky a decent deal. Its a recession they want customers , they are losing them by the day.

There is a landmark case going through the European court of Justice about Sky's charges and how people get round it. Should be interesting to hear the result...
If E&B&Q are doing it legitimately then it is costing them £160 - £195 per month depending on which package they've taken out.
Based on WUFC's rateable value it would be £736 - £910 though there is the possibility of reducing that if the 'outdoor sports area' is removed from the rateable value.
