It would be nice to hear from the club that things are still progressing well on this front just to put my mind at rest!

As of last saturday things were still in discussion i was told.

No NEW news was the message from the club and if there was some they would announce it.

Spoke to Piggy today and he was very positive, didnt go into major details, and I didnt want to ask, but he was positive, upbeat and sure of a successful conclusion.

I heard the same upbeat story on Saturday. Main players have been out of the country but things are progressing and no problems anticipated was the line I heard.

Still waiting to hear some positive final news on the takeover matter. We only have 2-3 weeks left don't we?

Can feel the anxiety start to rise as 1.12.10 isn't long. I agree a statement that things are progressing would be beneficial.

Blimey, lets hope plan A is without fault as I dont know if we have a plan B.

Anxiety is probably putting it mildly at the moment but the old addage of no news is good news doesnt help matters here. It seems weeks since some form of official communication . Lets hope something comes out soon.

Plan B is that Welling United go back to playing in Danson Park as a Sunday League team i guess. We either get bought out in the next two weeks or that's that. I wouldn't want an FA Trophy match against Tonbridge Angels to be our last ever home game!

BKK is right - I don't think there is a Plan B. This puts the investors in a very strong position I would guess. If they pull out then I think that will be that - the supporters won't raise the money in a couple of weeks and finding new people interested and for it to go through by 1.12.10 is a tall order.

Fingers crossed. Barry says things are progressing and it is with legal teams so let's hope for good news soon. I think it is all we can do.

Could always ask bernie ecclestone if we had a few days notice hes a bexleyheath boy and multi multi millionaire if you said we will run it as a community club and it would save us restarting.

20 fans putting up £2-3k each would either pay it or get it further adjourned. We could do that.

I for one aint happy about the way this so called take over is progressing or rather not progressing. What progress has been made then. It`s about time we had some sort of detailed club statement. At least to put the fans in the picture. NOT JUST SAYING "THINGS ARE PROGRESSING" PLEASE!

If it isn't going to happen then there'll be a weeks notice minimum I would have thought.

I'm guessing that people have thought about (god forbid) dropping down a couple of divisions and merge with E&B&Q!!!!

That would be worst case scenario but should we get to that stage it would be better than nothing I suppose. Let's just hope that the takeover goes ahead.

I never used to have a problem with E&B, but their complete silence on our troubles has been incredible. Don't they realise that if Welling ceased to exist, then E&B wouldn't have a ground to play in. They certainly can't afford to keep the ground going by themselves can they. Have they sent any money our way to help us out, i doubt it. We would actually be better off if they left and we had the reserves playing at PVR. More people would turn up to see a Welling reserve game than would want to see the E&B first team play, and we would get the use of their clubhouse :D Assuming we pay all the money we owe to HMRC and we get bought out, one thing we must do is find a way to get rid of E&B.

I know it's frustrating, but these things take time. The company I work for (ok, a little bigger that Welling United) took about 10 months for the deal to complete - it clearly takes time.

Those who comment that the nearer the deadline it gets the more it's in the buyers favour - I think it's pretty clear it's in the buyers favour anyway due to the winding up petition and the press around the situation.

If it goes to the 1st December and we don't have all the money I can't see any reason why there wont be an extentsion - we'll be able to show we're making a massive effort to pay the debt. Don't forget we've not been served with a winding up order yet, and most clubs appear to have about 3 court cases before they're potentially wound up.

Worst case scenario I think the Hobbins would put the club into administration, which would see an extension of time.

With just 18 days to go now to the HMRC hearing I hope that at some stage today the club advises the fans of the current situation officially.  I think that they owe it to all those who have made donations and sponsorships and have given up their time to arrange and attend events.

Assuming the club survives and continues to play at the current level, I think it has to find ways of improving communications with the supporters.  For example, Ebbsfleet send season ticket holders emails on club matters about three times a week during the season.  No doubt this is exceptionally good but it does show what can be done.

Barrie normally can be seen near the turnstiles talking to whoever until not too long before kickoff, so if anyone wants to ask him some questions regarding the takeover, i doubt he'll mind as long as people are polite about it :)

A printed out sheet letting us know what's what with the takeover, to be handed out at the FA Trophy game would be a good idea. I would also appreciate some sort of official word from the club on the website relating to takeover matters. They've been pretty good with this over the last month or so, but there hasn't been an update for a while now, and at this stage a week without news feels like a couple of months!

Are we making a massive effort ?? yes we are ... but what has been raised from the 63k needed ?? I would be surprised if we had raised about a third ... we certainly have had no confirmation from anyone at the club ... and only the money taken in by Russ for the sponsorship is a significant amount really in comparison to the debt. These quiz nights etc. all help of course, and the club should have something going on in the bar all weekend, but in comparison to the amount of debt they aren't going to convince a court we can pay our way.

When will everyone realise that whilst the lawyers are doing their bit 'nothing' can be said....deals have fallen through in business before if things get out

Thats not a pop just that it is the way it is

Barry said he feels things are nearing a completion after further meetings late last week. He was also happy for me to post that on the forum.

All people need is a "things are still progressing" the deal isn't a secret after all. Similarly I'm not having a pop but as timings draw near people need a bit of reassurance.

There isnt anything that could possibly be released that would scupper the deal .. they know of our debts, unless there are other gremlins in the closet.

Lets just get this deal done this week please smile.gif

Sorry to raise people's hopes/depress people by adding to this thread, but I did read in the Kent on Sunday that there seemed to be some expectation of a deal this week.  I just hope it does not go to the wire because I have a few doubts that we will be as fortunate as Sheffield Wednesday and get a 28-day extension at the HMRC hearing.

If there is a takeover, what will happen to the money raised by supporters?  Will it go towards the debts, pay for ground improvements or help to recruit players if the embargo is lifted? For the record, I'm not fussed where the money goes as long as the club and supporters benefit directly or indirectly.
