Welling United would like to confirm that the club are still in dialog with the proposed investors and hope to try and progress. There is lots of activity and discussions are ongoing with other alterative parties. The club is doing all it can to make sure matters are sorted before Wednesday. The Wings will make additional announcements as soon as there is any further news.
I maybe wrong, so please can someone advise me and put me straight. Is the above a contradiction. As "still in dialog with the proposed investors", seems to be cancelled out by "ongoing alternative parties."
If this means not putting all the eggs in 1 basket then great, as it seems once bitten twice shy.
As I said I may be reading this wrongly, fingers crossed it all goes ahead smoothly.

It doesn't sound great. It seems to me that the Hobbins have been a bit naive. All the eggs in one basket does not make a great plan. Looks like they have been tucked up and ultimately the team I have been supporting for 23 years could be wound up. Very sad. I hope that if the club is saved that the fans get more of a say in how the club is run and a have a proper stake in the club.
At least discussions are going on with investors/parties, if there was nothing we would be in serious trouble come Wednesday. Let's just hope something will come out of it.
Just say to the investors look its 57k to pay the debts to hmrc.. heres the other debts you need to sort.
If they wont do it then feck them off and go with the loan from Bromley guy.. BUT only if you can sort out a takeover in the loan spell and CUT THE BUDGET To 3k a week IMMEDIATELY.
why the fu/ck we never cut the budget 4 montsh ago i have no idea, and its fine for Jamie to say we will take a pay cut... YOU NEVER DID.

JGFC this should have been said to the investors months ago. Once HMRC have been paid a CVA can be agreed with the other creditors if necassary. I am so f****** annoyed that this has all been left to the last minute.

Thats Right... OVER the 4500 budget lol while we were trying to raise money.
Im merrily pissed off that we will take a pay cut was just hollow words. Other cubs slash budgets or play for free ... we were OVER BUDGET and then the WSU paid some of the FULL wages LOL.
Not Barrie and Barrys fault but they should have said up yours ... all non contract players gone.. you have the pick of teh academy and the budget is 3k a week from NOW. or you take voluntary pay cuts. In the end they carried on on full wages.

if wufc are wound up who will run the resurected club?

At a football club, theres a holy trinity the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors dont come into it. They are only there to sign the checks
If you were going to buy the club would you purchase it now with circa £55k of debt to take on yourself OR let if fold, and take it out of admisitration without picking up the liabilities of the former owners. Like many "pre-pack" arrangements.
Not wishing to be downbeat but I know what I'd do if I was them.
Len you cant take over a folded club. You can go into admin if limited.. the Taxman is unlikely to accept a CVA. These investors seem to have no brains.
You pay the HMRC in FULL get embargo off and try and negotiate the non critical debt.
I would worry they have any commercial savvy to bring in revenue anyway and are just after a cheap takeover then asset strip if they can get the ground lease freehold.

I fill sick ... no i dont have a cold or malaria after coming back from Africa it happened after reading the statment .... Thanks for giving us so much insight into the matter ... that statement was like someone telling me did i know what happened on Sept 11th 2001!
Bill if they had taken cuts in august we would have paid half the debt and raised the rest.
Of course its not good they havent been paid was the first week they werent gonna get paid coinciding with crap performances v ebbsfleet and havant? tells you a lot imho.
Theyve played well this year top class, but theyve been paid good money to do so.
Most of them will get good gigs at teams at our level (or above) they will be fine, we will have no club.

I don't think you can lay any blame at the players' door. It's not their responsibility to get us out of this mess - they neither created it nor probably knew what they were getting themselves in for when signing, otherwise, my guess is, they would never have signed in the first place.
The decision of cutting wages or whatever, should have been done by the Hobbins immediately to reduce costs and save money, but they just aren't ruthless enough.
Jim all i am saying is they said they would take pay cuts (according to the press) and didnt when there was a lot of time left where it would have gone a long way to paying off a lot of the debt and getting an extention if we raised little else or a take over failed.

It seems like everyone at the club (players/officials) have said they will do this and that to save the club, then what happens, nothing.
Of course it isn't up to the players to help the club by playing for free or taking a paycut, but if they said they would take less wages, then they should have done exactly that.
I see your point JGFC, and it would have made things easier if they had taken wage cuts - so in that sense I completely agree with you - but feel its a two way street, the players shouldn't be coming up with the idea, those running everything should.
At the end of the day its all hindsight - a few weeks back I was certain this investor deal would have been thrashed out and we wouldn't be talking about it at all.
Like you said in another thread, the Hobbins are nice people and they created Welling United, so for that I'm thankful, it has been brilliant up 'til now. They've made some costly mistakes and could have gone about things differently, but even if things do go tits up Wednesday I'd like to think we can keep the Welling legacy going in whatever shape or form we can. All is not necessarily lost post Wednesday.

Im not slagging the players off theyve been immense and are one of the best squads weve ever had not far off the glory days of the 3rd round of the fa cup, 6th in the conference national, QF of the trophy etc etc.
Its just gaulling to hear they will take pay cuts and not to do it, IF we had paid 1500 a week to teh HMRC you would have got an extention and some other investors may have come in. I cant help feel some would have sat back seen if we were learning (Given our record for being shyte commercially) before making an approach. Also all of these investors came to us... why didnt we advertise in the broadsheets and sports papers for investors?
I am furious we never got a big friendly as that too gets you leeway. Making 3 or 4 phone calls is bollocks.
I just pray these investors see that as a blue sq south side and improved ground and community activity we can move on. But i feel they are messing us about and in it to scavenge off us all the time they pratt about moving goalpoasts.
