Right... These were owned by Tamar Hassan http://www.tamerhassan.com  who filmed the Football Factory bog scenes with Danny Dyer there (Dyer - Lead in Factory!) Keep With Me!!

Fridays sees the best British film in years to come out THE BUSINESS is its name, Gangland Criminals in Spain with an absolute ARSE KICKING 80's sound track. Tamar plays BIG CHARLIE and Danny Dyer Plays FRANKIE .

Dyer has been the star in Mean Machine, Human Traffic, Football factory and winner of an OSCAR Wasp.

Premier was last week and its released Friday but there is a showing in Greenwich on Thursday at that massive complex.

Does anyone know what happened at Greenwich Borough? Did tamar sell them??

i often speak to one of the staff down at greenwich borough and from what it seems i think he did because the bloke i speak to said the ground is currently undergoing plans to have flats built on them, which i don't think Tamar Hassan would do.

Please could someone confirm that Greenwich Borough still use Harrow Meadow as I am shocked to hear the possibility of flats being built on the ground. I am all for social housing which is needed in this area but would be unhappy about planning permision being given by Greenwich Council on open space land.Especially as there will be additional housing once the Ferrier Estate is knocked down and re-built.

Yep thats the place thanks for the information. I will have to lobby a few Greenwich Councillors as I think its totally out of order to build on green land especially if its a non league ground.

28 July 2005
A PRESTIGIOUS football club which spawned Arsenal and England legend Ian Wright is under threat.

Greenwich Borough Football Club, established in 1928 and based on the edge of Sutcliffe Park in Eltham, is earmarked for affordable housing.

Club bosses, who say they have offered Greenwich council £7,500,000 for the land, have been told they will have to move on elsewhere.

But council bosses claim that they have no record of the offer and say that the affordable housing scheme is necessary to improve the area.

Ian Wright is understood to be upset that the club are facing hard times.

Club owner Tamer Hassan the actor star of the film Football Factory and, more recently, Layer Cake, says the plan is 'disgusting'.

He said: "The council are threatening to take this land back and I think that is disgusting. We have even offered £7,500,000, but they refused. They want to take the land and develop it.

"We have tried to cover every possible avenue, but they won't have it. We just want to keep the club here."

The land will form part of Greenwich council's plans to rebuild the run-down Ferrier Estate in Kidbrooke.

It is believed that the grounds will be used to build part of the 4,400 new homes.

Mr Hassan says the scheme makes a mockery of the successful Olympic bid and shames the government.

He said: "So much for the Olympics. So much for grassroots football. What they are doing is so criminal."

Club groundsman Ron Anthony said: "After we won the Olympic Games, the Football Association said that grassroots football has never been stronger. I'm sorry - but what a load of tripe. "

Football star Wright, now a TV presenter, played for the club between 1981 and 1985 before he was spotted by Crystal Palace talent scouts.

The football club grounds were not originally part of the Kidbrooke Vision Masterplan which was approved in April 2002 but council bosses now claim they need the land.

The scheme, although popular among many residents groups who feel the area needs redeveloping, also has other objectors.

Patricia Hill, who has lived in Eltham Green Road, adjacent to the football club, for more than 30 years, said: "If this goes ahead, the club and the pitches will go and it is just not on. We are not happy about it at all."

Ian Wright was unavailable for comment but a friend said: "If the club is in trouble he will want to know."

A Greenwich council spokesperson said: "The council has discussed options to help the football club find a solution, including alternative facilities in the area, as well as assistance with relocation. We are happy to continue discussing this with them and there will be further consultation when the developer is appointed.

"At the moment the open spaces in the Kidbrooke area are not easily accessible but after the development there will be easily accessible open spaces for all the residents.

"Overall, the Kidbrooke Vision will positively transform the lives of the people who live in the area, and this is reflected by the fact that people in the area overwhelmingly support the scheme.

Thanks for the information. I live in Kidbrooke and I certainly dont support the building of housing on Harrow Meadow. Looks like I will have to have a moan to the council.
