Here we go again....'why should I help out'?....if you dont like it then jusy go somewhere else
we ALL have to help out if we want a club to support
maybe i will then - and maybe others will think the same.....
why should i give up my time if the owners of the club appear to do nothing- sometimes it feels like im talking to members of an official fan club where the product can do no wrong no matter what crap it peddles
im sorry to be so negative on what should be a decent day but the usual faults were exposed today and NOTHING has changed - all this talk of a new era for the club is a load of rubbish and the club has sunk into old habits - no wonder crowds are shrinking
I agree with J. As paying customers and supporters who lent money to the club at the start of the season (in the form of a season ticket in case people forgot about that LOAN), all this fundraising, a gig here and a raffle there,as helpful in a small way this is, it is not the long term answer!
We need regular high foot fall through the gates and that is only going to happen when we get promoted (hopefully) or start the advertising to get our attendances at this level up from local schools, clubs and advertising in shops. Would we take an away crowd to dartford like they did to us...I doubt it.
If we get the extra people through the door we MUST be able to cope at the turnstile, the bar, the number of programmes produced, toilet facilities, provision of food, the list is endless.
I got there at 2.20 today, could not find a parking space within half a mile (anyone ever thought that might put a few people off coming), small queue for us season ticket holders, no queue for concessions and a big queue for paying customers.
Remember Woolworths went bust because not enough people were going to the shop... THIS IS A NUMBERS GAME.
Faz was everywhere truly worked his balls off and carved them open. Cant think of one player who played poorly or didnt run his legs off. Bearing in mind we had a handful in bed yesterday and spewing at half time this is a tremendous effort from them. They ALL just keep giving more and more and rising the challenge.
As for the Bar and stuff, when you are struggling financially you cant stock the bar fully, perhaps we never had the dosh to hire Eriths bar either.
Lets hope that today has allowed for some stock in and they come up with a special offer before the next game or a raffle/happy hour 2 hours before kick off to one hour before kick off for all people in the bar. We have to start small and build up.

Barrie's actions.... I stick by my earlier post. Football is a cash business and it seemed to me to be another 200-300 people there today
Any Comments?
Yes, what you're saying is tantamount to slander. You shouldn't say stuff like that unless you've got proof. Are you good at counting a large number of people?

No it's not. 1) I didn't say he has done anything! 2) I'm stating a fact, most things are cash at football grounds..beer, food, turnstiles etc 3) I stated "it seemed to me to be another 200-300 people" . My opinion only, although there were alot of laughs near me when that figure was announced. FACT.
Our players ran their arses off beat a local rival with a handful of them coughing, spluttering and spewing their guts up, lets see some praise for on the pitch stuff, you have your chance to address the club 0208 301 1196 info@wellingunited.com or face to face or to make your point through the supporters association about lack of drinks and queues at the gate.
The players might think, ffs im feeling like hell here and they are whingeing about waiting 5 mins for a drink or to get in.
Fantastic effort our boys showed today, committment, passion, solidarity and we owe Lewes one for last year when Daisy rested himself. lets get behind them, i am sure we will have 100 plus at lewes, their bar is no better than ours and their gates are up 80%.
3 points on Monday and we are right bang in it, thats the main thing with all the off field stuff being addressed when the supporters association are up and running, lets not try to solve everything in 15 mins or go mental over a 5 minute wait.

The frustrating thing is that there must have been a reasonable number of casual supporters there today who saw a pretty decent match but who won't come back next week, even though we are flying high. No idea how to address it really, I would say hand out a ticket giving half price admission to the following game, but if they still didn't come back then revenue would be lost from the "regulars".
Greensox, the way you worded that post, looks like you were effectively saying Barrie has been officially lying about the attendance figures, and creaming off the difference for himself.
That's the way it looked to me and I am pro Welling.
I came home really pleased with today's result, had a look at the forum and saw that and it pi55ed me off. And I ain't exactly a huge fan of the way the club is run.
There were no laughs about the official attendance where I was standing, more words of 'that's a good turn out'.
I thought the crowd looked bigger but having read about 150 away fans when the true number was probably nearer 70 I know these things are pretty difficult to estimate.

You're right as i spoke to lots of Charlton faces who use to watch Welling years back. Their comments to me about the bar, lack of beer, queues etc told me straight away certain things that need to be fixed before we attract anyone back.
Does anyone know if Jamie Coyle has let Purcell out of his pocket yet?
Some sly nasties at halftime and then again purcell was dirty and grabbed hold of Coylie, if York were watching him today they might make that loan to Dartford permanent.
Thought their 8 and 10 were yappy players who left a foot in or barged people. Burchall looked lively but i think that was only as the flu was catching up with us and lack of match fitness as we havent played much lately.
Acheampong did well at right back and the 40 mins will do him good. Lets hope we can get a few goals at Lewes and let Jordan and Osa have 15 mins or so if the game is safe.

enjoyed my return back to pvr after 28 years! good side you have there hope you get your problems sorted yes the queues were long but got a pint and a burger ok and the old ground aint lookin its best but enjoyed the game even tho we were awful GOOD LUCK WINGS YOU DESERVE TO SURVIVE
Healy 1st half fazza 2nd half massive effort from both players BRILLIANT.
Both played threw the inside rather then down wings and they caused trouble everytime.
When mr healy was signed i said unbeliveable after his tenure under MR FORD as a forward, this time round midfield/winger like a new player WELL DONE JOE HEALY.

this is what i have been ranting about - we always get bigger crowds on bank holidays and the trick is to make their day at pvr as good as poss so they might consider coming back, but with all the problems like no beer, no programmes, having to queue means that people wont bother again as it's a pain when they turn up

i should have read to the bottom of the thread before just posting as you said what i just posted - we will never get extra fans with these problems but we all know NOTHING will be done so really i should just stop moaning about it
For the record, I was standing with Ben and that was the truthful response. People were geniuinely pleased when that number was read out. Greensox, I called 1,500 and was only 12 off...Lucky guess I suppose...However I doubt my estimating skills are not better or worse than yours. And you and Trundle do need to be careful, you are treading on dangerous ground. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but when you insinuate that crowd numbers are being underestimated and that money was put in a pocket (ever thought he may not have had a bag on him??), it is reaching towards insulting and libellious.
And to the people moaning about the queues...We all got caught in it and bearing in mind it's the first time I've been to PVR for a couple of months, I was glad to see it. It's not put me off, I think your anger should be more vented at the Charlton fans who didn't fancy going to Colchester instead...
Anyway, great performance from the lads. Does anyone know if their keeper's ears have stopped ringing yet? Poor lad was getting a bit of grief!
