I think that you will find that the lounge creates a lot of money for the club in the cost of the extra money paid to use the facilities. If we were to make it a bar for everyone then we would have to be convinced that the extra bar profit would more than compensate for the loss in season ticket revenue - which I would doubt.
I also notice that the EL is often used by Kent and FA officals as well as scouts from other clubs and for some reason Teddy Sherringham last Saturday!! The club will obviously need some facility to entertain visting officals, guests etc. The Board room wouldn't cope I would suggest.
How about the end of the Executive lounge....and turn it into another bar for all supporters - ia m not sure it brings in much extra each year
OR at least on 'big' attendance days
What would you do for sponsors? Surely the idea is to increase commercial activity not to put it at risk. A truly dreadful suggestion. Hang your head in shame.
To be fair Mark said it was controversial and I think it is right that we think "outside of the box" if it could help the club. Personally I don't see this idea working but I don't think we should criticise people who come up with ideas.
Even running the burger bar queue the other way so people can access the bar to spend their money more easily is a good idea that costs nothing, but hey, when this was suggested to a club official and the burgerman himself as well, nothing happened as usual.
Not wishing to poo poo a great idea but one would need to check out the electricity supply on the New Stand side before any move could be made. The way I see it at present is the burger van is in its current (not a pun) position due to the location of the outside electric point. I am not an expert in electrical matters but what sort of money would need to be spent in making a safe connection on that side of the ground?
In an ideal world the club wouldnt franchise their catering out, its just throwing money away. But whats to stop the caterer using a generator? Its not our problem... Tell him to get a generator if there is no power, but im sure there is, as Chelmo Video bloke had a long extension lead with him ...going somewhere.
Or tell him to go in Eriths Bar or let erith open theirs as a franchise.
If the van is in the way of access to the stand and the bar then move it.
Is there a reason why the tea bar isnt under the main stand?

I think the burger van should be over at the Erith side anyway...more space and you can watch the game too
Totally 100% agree!!! & best bit is that people still see the game whilst waiting to be served. Let the burger man worry about the electric supply it cant be that hard to sought out?
Simple improvement but very efective!

I thought there was a van over there at the AFC Wimbledon game a couple of years ago. It is a no brainer for me - if people can watch the game when queuing then they will buy more and also mean that people don't have to queue for the whole of half time and therefore may pop in the bar or shop.

Also, if you can see the pitch there is less danger of you getting hit by a ball flying over the club shop as you return to the terrace in the pre-game kickabout (and I speak from experience)!

Shouldn't think there's much chance of that happening MD, don't expect seeing George Purcell back at PVR for a while
I don't think moving the burger bar to the Erith side would work.
The turnstyles that side aren't used much so it would mean walking behind the goal to get your grub. You get more people coming through the main entrance so it makes sense to have it that side.
However, I think moving it nearer the club shop would work and it would allow customers to still see the match and maybe browse what's on offer in the shop.
Just hope you can stand the smell of the onions Dave.

Not all of us sit in the main stand.
So having it on view in the corner at the E&B turnstile it will if anything encourage more sales as it would be in a more central point to all (& you can still see the game).
Does the club get rent from the burger van? or does it all go straight to the club? Because it sounds like we may be discussing a point that does not see the club benefit any extra income to it regardless of sales?

Even with profits made from a club run burger van, can we afford a couple of sorts to run it? Remember they aint just there to take money for your quarter pounder and cup of Bovril, they've actually got to be able to make the stuff and make it good or no one will want to but their food there. I reall can't see any supporters wanting to do it as they would miss too much of the game.
Not that I would ever approve of such a sexist approach. I am sure that we would want the best possible person to do the job!!
Must agree with Chelwing, just because someone in one persons opinion is fit does not mean they can cook a good burger. Although older people such as myself can appriciate so called "fitness" a well cooked burger in a nice round bun are appriciated more.

Appreciate the non-sexist argument, -------- still, a cute tush wouldn't go amiss
you also need a few fit blokes in the bar and burger van to encourage the female fans to spend their money.... I'm sure Patsy would spend a fortune if there was a fit bloke to serve her....
on a more serious note.... you could also hire fit people to model the merchandise for the club shop... waits for the lads requesting la senza be stocked now...
