There have been some changes to the arrangements previously circulated for the WUSA Race Night. The first race will now start at 7.00pm and the race card will cost £1.50 which includes a free 50p bet on any race.
Look out for more news about this event in the next few days.

But will there be enough beer to do this. Real Ale and all bottled bitters were gone by the end of the half time break.
Also, I do not understand why Meet the Manager and the Race Night have to be on consecutive nights. There is another home game one week later. Why can't Meet the Manager be before that game?
I don't think it can be denied that the Club are doing their best to respond to the suggestions made by supporters about the Wings Bar. It is relatively early in this process and until there is at least a fairly consistent use of the bar judgements of the requirements are I would suggest are a bit hit and miss. When real ale became a regular feature I understand there were several occasions when a significant amount was thrown. As far as Race Night goes I would expect that since we have a home game the following week sufficient supplies will be available.
I believe that there are enough areas where criticism of the Club is justifiable but when they are at least trying is the scenario where they get it wrong by underestimating demand and consequently certain drinks run out by the end of half time or having searched the back of the sofa they can only purchase x amount of stock really one of them? A scenario where there is no real ale or no bitter or no bottles from the ouset is of course and entirely different scenario and I'd be as critical as I have been in the past when there was no real ale on matchday and when there was no bitter at a WSU event.
The Race Night was arranged some time ago and I assume the Meet the Manager night was determined by the availability of the Manager who is after all the critical attendee.

1) Only 22 pints from a barrel have to be sold to get their money back. Have they really thrown more than 50 pints away after a match?
2) A barrel opened at the race night will not keep until the following Saturday.
3) Bottled bitters do not go off for months. A lot of custom was lost tonight as people went off to pubs. I cannot see any reason to have less than 50 bottles in stock.

1) I have no idea what the wastage was but am sure that it has subsequently reduced significantly with the increased usage of the bar. However as we all know commercially you not only have to cover the wholesale price but oncosts and a reasonable level of profit to continue stocking goods and my point was that it is a two way street and the club hasn't necessarily always had the luxury of travelling in the favoured direction.
2) The comment about a fixture the following week was generic and not specific to real ale with its 3 day life span once it starts to be used.
3) Having to find a significant sum for the taxman next week and presumably reducing the players wage arrears may have something to do with it.
The Bar may not be perfect but the Club are listening to supporters, the results are visible and I'm sure that there is more to come.

1) I do not have a clue what that means. What I do know is that when people don't stay through not having something they like to drink they take non Real Ale drinkers with them.
3) Understandable but nevertheless more income has been lost to the advantage of local alehouses!!
What I mean is that the true cost of the pint is not the wholesale price of a pint, you have to factor in an amount in respect of the costs of delivery, wages, heat, light etc etc and a desired level of profit so the simplistic 22 pints you quoted is not the break even point of a firkin. It may be that at times in the past that wastage meant that the profit did not reach the desired level (the Club lose) but the customer was satisfied (they win). The ideal is of course that its a win/win scenario.
I think the most telling point about the Happy Hour and the availability of hot food is that even six months ago this would have been unlikely and in my opinion this represents a real step forwards and demonstrates that the Club are making a real effort and that is something we should recognise positively. The extension of the range of drinks is still somewhat new ground for the Club and by the very nature of things there will be hiccups and the maximum potential not met as you stated happened yesterday but even places like Weatherspoons whose primary business is the selling of alcoholic drinks and who have far more storage than we have at PVR run out of particular drinks on occasion.

Mark, i sold the stuff, The prices are from about £60 up plus Vat for a 9, low abv cheaper obviously. You can probably buy **** a little bit cheaper or get a discount if buying 3 casks or a free barrel if buying 6 at a time.

Andrew 60-80 is correct the stronger the beer the higher the price normally. Davids price is not far off for a 9.
When we had a leaving do in October I was asked by the pub in which it was held to select two guest ales from their brewers list. The pins were all priced between £53 and £57. Since then VAT has gone up so £60 to £65 may be about right meaning 24 pints at £2.70 or 22 at £2.80 would break even.
Maison Maurice would be a bit more expensive as a wholesaler would need to make their profit on top.
What should not be forgotten is that when our group is in drinking it, there are often others with us drinking other stuff behind the bar.
I agree with Bruno that win/win is the ideal answer and I would not want the club to ever lose money on it.
Yeah sounds about right Mark. a 3.8 will be about 60 and a 5.2 up towards 75 ish you might get high abvs cheaper but they will be short dated and you wont be told that.
I think it will sell whenever bought but needs to be a regular thing EVERY GAME, so people go in there EVERY GAME knowing its on, if its hit and miss or no bottles or not enough people wont risk going in the clubhouse.
Agree with what you say about no excuse for under 50 bottles, in stock especially as lidl are £1 a pop. sell at £2.40 and thats £1 profit a bottle after VAT.

Anyway back to important issues - beer. Would the Club allow WUSA to supply a barrel for the race night and maybe the Maidenhead game with any profits going back to WUSA? They would still benefit if it attracts people into the bar as they may well keep company with people who drink that other stuff or worse still soft drinks.
If anyone tells me to phone and ask the Club then I will destroy my season ticket and become a Raynes Park Vale supporter.
