lets hope we can get a couple of thousand there to support the youngsters, they played well at Whitstable and try to pass it. Harry Stanhope is in form for the Academy, so lets hope we nick it against our Ryman 1 North opponents.
Will be good to have another look at Davis, Wall and Knight too.

Firstly, i would just like to apologise for an earlier thread where i was a bit out of line. I hope that all of the club have the greatest sucess. On tonights game i will be there to have another look at the lads. I spoke to a lad from the academy yesterday we told me there were a few injury concerns. First choice centre backs Tom Andrews and Ryan Wall are both out injured, with Lewis Knight a doubt. Lets hope whatever team we put out competes with Thamesmead and maybe nicks it! COYW
I realise that we will play the kids tonight and fully agree with that.
However surely Messrs Johnson and Healy might need to stretch their legs a little and possibly Mr Bellamy as well - maybe not for 90 minutes but for 45 minutes or an hour before the weekend??
In my opinion if any of them are fit they should play some part tonight.
Yes they could get injured but that could happen at any time. Better they have 45 minutes in their legs so if called upon Saturday they have had some game time and less likely to pull a muscle or similar injury.

Sorry Wingnut, I don't agree. We need our core players to be fit and ready for League action, not taking the chance of being injured in a minor game. I understand your sentiment, but I think that Jamie must be pragmatic and field an all Acamemy side. Afterall, they did us proud at Whitstable and who knows, they may just give us a good result tonight.
1 1 ht header from corner put thamesmead up . Rasper from 20 yards just before ht by our ten mo equalised. Even game. We played well in spells down right. Dauis is 2 a kid called dean been lively wearing 7. Jordan playing cent mid. Leon playing on left.

Gutted we probably were better team for 70 mins, then Jordan Missed a penalty at 1-1 and they hit us with long balls and we fell apart and lost 4-1. We were on top second half and im sure we would have held on had Jordan scored against what was i hear their first team.
Some video highlights will be up tomorrow night.
Thanks to Dogkilla for the lift, was back home at 10pm.
Unlucky lads, played some good stuff until the penalty miss gave Mead confidence and we didnt recover from it.

totally agree with jgfc better team up to the penalty miss would have one had it gone in . some fine performances from jack taylor no 5 and lewis knight no4 never a 4 1 result
Wingnut, Jordan plays for Cambridge United Academy aswell so probably didnt need to have a run out but he played the game tonight. I would play him left wing back not cent mid and i would have had Stanhope or Leon take the penalty.
Jordan did hit one good free kick but I dont think hes a center midfielder, didnt think he was, now im sure he isnt.
Stand out players for us tonight were Leon, The 7 and Mo played well but wasnt any good until his goal, seemed to perk up and play well after that. I think the Academy need a keeper and a big one at that.

I forgot Jack, he played well at center half. Davis was Ok but hit some very sloppy passes tonight, some of the kids might be tired as they play for academy/sevenoaks.

Thought our lads did very well last night against their first XI but were outmuscled at the end of the day.
Turning point was the penalty save at 1-1 and them going ahead straight after. Apparently the Thamesmead keeper has saved 6 out of 7 pens this season which is some record.
Leon showed up quite well and was quite impressed with the skipper (Taylor?) and the right back (Chris...?)
Right back is Chris Davis, plays for Sevenoaks at Left Back, was/is one of our academy boys. His passing was ropey last night at times. I would deffo have him in for pre season training next year. I too thought Leon showed up well. Think Mr Levett should be on the look out to catch a keeper from a league team, but looking at the trials , they all seem later than elsewhere so we are only picking up kids who have been released and had trials elswehere. Worryingly Mr Levett is holding Maidstone trials before hes holding Welling Academy trials, as i said we are well down the line when holding trials late in April and will miss the boat on some of the quality released youngsters from pro clubs, now to be behind Maidstone Uniteds academy is a kick in the teeth.
If we have trials earlier we get a better class of trialist. Maybe thats due to his other commitments at Sevenoaks, His Coaching Company and Maidstone Academy. Thought Quinny was excellent yesterday from the bench, stood up all game and was vocal, coaching us.

Our best players on the night was Leon, the skipper num 5, Lewis Knight, num 7 and Mo. I agree until Mo got his goal he wasn't playing well but after that he started running the show. Him and leon seem 2 have a good understanding. The skipper had a very good game aswell as lewis our num 7 doesn't really move fluentlyhes rather restricted him his body movement other than that he lookd lively always running at his man and being positive. Leon playd well as always stong, good dribbling, good 1st touch always positive and set up Mo. Mo didn't really get started until he scored he did get to the byline and square low cross to leon which I leon should've converted other than that it was his goal that sparked him then he started playing. I must say what a goal it was hope to see video highlights of the game soon. And isit just me or does mo just glide around the pitch with grace? Cause I was watching and everything he did look so smooth and effortless huge potential. Hope to see some of the lads push on into the 1st team now good luck to all.
Mo looked like he could be one for the future last night, though he was pants v Whitstable, but did some good things last night and got better as game went on. Goal is a cracker and will be in the highlights posted early evening.

I agree with u Jia against whitstable he was pants but if think the formation played a big part, yesterday it looked like he was playin off the front and was much more effective than when he was playing in center mid at whitstable. I'd give the lad our man of the match just for that goal mate
Totally agree Jgfc, some of the boys looked tired after 70 mins - Jack (5) and Chris (2) played full 90 minutes against Dover on Monday pm then full 90 minutes last night. Don't know many teams where the players play 2 matches on the bounce?

Also heres some low quality highlights knocked up on laptop, the render is choppy. I will do the usual higher quality highlights friday when i get my quad core pc back from being repaired... They will be on the Welling site sometime on Saturday probably.

DVDs not for sale mate, just give them to the Manager, cant be risking oppo getting hold of them. Ones where Welling Academy play for first X1 games get given to Keith aswell.

almost got it right into the corner, was hit with some power, Might make it into the welling united goal of the season comp... dont think it will win as Pughie, Faz and Loick, plus One Joe, Daisy and Cumbers all hit superb goals. But think it might get in the final 10 or 12.
Would have got it if at a better ground with a raised view and better lights. I HATE doing video from 2 feet from the touchline at pitch level. Too hard.

Plenty rave about Jack Taylor, hes done ok when ive seen him, i really like the Right Back Chris, now i know why some of his passes were a bit poor last night, poor sod was knackered... he still had a fair game though, but shone at Whitstable, Leon is beginning to improve and look a possible for a squad place next season. Shame Ryan was injured would liked to have seen him play again.
I think theres definitely 2 or 3 of the kids who should be in pre season so the First Team manager can assess them.
If i was to pick one for the future though it would be Davis, he has a good brain, usually passes well and gets forward. Never looks troubled or panics.

Another chance to see the academy yet again they impressed me leon farrell stood out for me last night. lewis knight worked hard they all played with confidence. I stated after pre season friendly at erith town regarding jordan johnson i did not think he was a cental midfielder and last night he has not convinced to change my mind. Well done lads good luck .
from the academy grapevine i hear keith going to be involved with the maidstone youth set up next season , a replacement may may be in place but only might be at the moment . i would be more worried that we may lose the 2 years hard work in leon and chris and perhaps a couple of the others to a kent rival
Shame we cant get the funding to try and bring Daisy into controling the academy. Its on Maidstones site already , their trials are before ours and Keith is doing them. For teh future we have people at our club running other teams academys if we can somehow get ours funded like others are, then we could keep them all in house and really develop players.

i hope quinny stays all the lads like him and very good on match days no ranting and raving [unless your an official] just as important to the academy as keith
Totally agree - Quinny is great and is well respected by the academy boys. It would be real shame if he didn't stay. Good encouragement during matches - still has his true passion for the game!!
