I think the less said about the match referee Adam Crysell from Braintree the better because his performance was truly dreadful for both sides and spectators too - I hope the assessor watching has done the honourable duty and given his performance the low marks and adverse comments it deserved.

As a qualified referee myself I felt he lost the plot as it were in the first few minutes, never to recover his authority, and once players know that too they will use all the tricks in the trade to get away with murder which is exactly what happened.

How he allowed Town's Matt Groves to remain undisciplined and without a card all evening or City's Steve Clark to stay on the field for a late, two-footed second half tackle that caused a melee near the dugouts only he will know.
