Steve Perkins missed a one on one for the Wings and Marvin Bartley slashed a one on one wide for the visitors. Wings look better since Carruthers has come on. Not a great game so far but hopefully Ade will sort them out in the dressing room before the second half.

Disaster!! Hour Gone and Jamie Day SENT OFF after taking a Welling Free Kick on the edge of the Hayes box before the Referee was ready! Welling now have the slope to contend with and also have to contend with the Visitors extra man.
Absolute Joke these Refs lately. Still 0-0. Can the Wings hold on?

70 minutes gone, the Wings really having a go at WINNING the game. Matt Bodkin on for Pinnock. Matt Lee made two wreckless challenges in a minute and according to the commentator "The referee is continuing to make some absolutely incredible decisions and on his showing so far how has Lee stayed on the pitch" Still 0-0.

Wings over come having a man sent off after 53 minutes and another poor Ref in Mr Hooper to snatch a great win at the death. Carruthers improved Welling's shape when replacing Rob Owen. That man Steve Perkins got on the end of a Matty Carruthers cross and powered his header home giving keeper no chance. Mark Saunders was superb in the second half.
Well done lads! Tremendous victory and shows the new instilled character of Pennock's team as opposed to those under Hales, Reynolds, Williams and Parker who under achieved and played with little pride in wearing the shirt. Wings jump over Boothy's Cambridge and are in 3rd just 2 points behind Histon. Had another referee not cost Welling a win at Histon after giving an absurd injury time free kick to them then Welling United would be top of the league this evening.
Excellent that the Wings are challenging at the top and this is due to Pennock's leadership and skill at bringing in quality additions to the squad like Mark Saunders who was superb in the second half.
All afternoon the ref ran away from the ball at free kicks holding his whistle above his head to say wait. For Days sending off the referee didnt do that and Day obviously thought he could take it. I am sure that if James videod it he can highlight the Ref holding his whistle up at previous free kicks and NOT Jamies incident. Hopefully the Red Card will be over turned due to the referee's inconsistency and error.

Pennock delighted with team spirit, speaking on Radio Kent Ade said Saunders is a good asset but questions whether he is ready for Gillingham's first team yet. using Hobbins saying "im not too sure!" Also he didnt want to comment on the referee and said he thought Jamie Day was very unlucky to get sent off. Pennock said that the performances have not always been too great but we have dug in.

Fantastic goal to win the match. Poor game over all but if we win games like this then we should be right up there. a 5th of the season gone already and we are 2 points off the top. Can we stay up there?
Unlucky Jamie hopefully just a one game ban?? Can we use the Erith game as the banned match?
What a bad referee.What is it with the standard of officials in this league its every week almost that we get a lemon.
Despite that it was a great performance in the second half after an iffy first half even though we created chances. Perkins is a real find by Adrian and has shown his versatility, does anyone know if he is on a long term deal. Also the programme this season isnt as good as last years.

Im impressed with the site. I see James is selling his video from it though, ardly doing it for the love of the club, plus i was told yesterday he is being PAID to do the official site.
