By the 3/4 stage of the season the player of the year is not normally a long list however such is the side we have this season that this is not the case and I doubt that it is going to be much easier by game 40. I've got 5 players marginally ahead but it could easily be 6 or 7. Its going to be a real toughie.

Whoever finishes top scorer will be favourite if they score a few more than the contenders say someone gets 22 or 23 and the others get 17 or 18.
Player of the season and Goal of the season will be 2 really special awards thsi season. Should sell out awards night with people keen to see who gets what and enjoy a great season hopefully ending with us winning the playoffs.

As Mark X has said we should all move away from the norm and vote for the team......... for all they have done this season under an embargo n **** financial management n the ability to still play great football and show such unity.......
I think it devalues it if you make a team award as player of the season. By all means present each player with a momento and make a big thing of it at the last game with photos and announcements, even play a song for them all over the tannoy, I think whoever wins this years will really have acheived something special so give them something they can look back on with pride. Im sure they are all eager to win it and will keep busting their balls.

Good call Mark - that would be a great tribute to all of our players that have overcome the problems this season. They and the coaching staff etc, deserve every accolade that could be bestowed upon them.
As for the player of the year, what a difficult call, but Faz, Parkinson, Stella and Pugh are in the running. But, as stated, the rest of the squad are inches behind and all deserve mentioning.
Very hard to call this year but if you put a gun to my head I'd have to say Clarke.
Good shout mate - but, my way of thinking is this : Parkinson - great Captain, leads by example, controls the park and scores Pugh - surely the best player of his type in the League - quick footed, a great thinker of the game and scores terrific goals too Stella - another footballing thinker. Solid as a rock at the back, great overlapper and contributes to every game that he plays in. Faz - pacey winger that scores goals. Another Daisy on the free kicks. Always wants to get involved in the action - has the desire and motivation to push the team further.
In previous years there's always been a few players that I thought weren't quite good enough. This year I can honestly say that there's not one I would want to get rid of.
I'd love to see this team stick together for next season including the current goalkeeper who has been outstanding in the games he's played in.
Player of the year is going to be so close this year with everyone in with a shout.
Never mind Player of the Year, the League should give Daysie the Manager of the Year award now.
Together with Barry Ashby and Dean Frost, quite what they've had to contend with as regards the transfer embargo has been nothing short of miraculous. I don't know what their motivational techniques are, but they should bottle them and sell them.
Remarkable stuff. Good luck for the rest of the season, guys!!
So difficult to pick one player from our small squad. For me setting an example to others with quality of play and attitude go a long way to making a selection.
Jamie Day has shown he has leadership quality both as player and manager.
Jack Parkinson chosen by Jamie as captain has played at center back and center midfield with outstanding perfomances. I think he is more influential in mid field, and seems to enjoy that position.
To miss any player with a mention would be unfair, they have all done themselves proud so far.
An outstanding perforance when winning the play off final would be a fitting way to win this seasons player of the season. That would clinch it, but once again all of this team are in the frame.
COYW. A long way to go but we can get there together.
Its great to be considering these things , it shows what a great season we have going.
Agreed with all these posts - I definitly think we should have "Player of the Season" as it will be a real tense affair to see who will get it - gives us even more reason to vote as we know it is not a "given" this year.
I think also that we should invent something for this year only as a respectful nod, something like - A Special Fans Appreciation Award for Team Spirit, to be presented to the entire team, collected by Daisy - therefore Nuff Said and let's move on from this very difficult year - onwards and upwards.

Maybe because he has missed the last few games he has slipped from people's mind but I feel that One Joe Healy should be part of the reckoning. At times his footballl has been different class. I was surprised when he was signed at the strat of the season but am happy to say I was wrong and it is another inspired piece of work by Jamie Day
