The 2012 Euro qualifier is on Sat 26th March when we're away to Chelmsford.
The game is live on Sky sports at 3pm!!! This will affect attendances across non-league football.
This is madness and why did the FA agree to this KO time? No doubt they don't want it as an evening game with thousands of England fans in Cardiff but a 5.15pm ko would have made sense.
Have Chelmsford got Sky in their clubhouse? If so 1 p.m. would seem their best option as many people would be likely to stay on and watch the game. Clubs without Sky might well think about trying to switch to Sunday.
Chelmsford have obtained the agreement off the Conference to bringing forward the kick off time. I'm unsure as to whether or not Welling have yet agreed to the change....
Indeed the wings may want a quiet crowd and less home fans.
And "less away fans" as well, shirley....
Perhaps Welling are looking for some sort of direct fianacial incentive to agree to the change....
It won't surprise you to learn that Chelmsford City's lowest home Saturday first team league attendance EVER of 248 was enjoyed on October 9 2004 because our opponents that day, Hampton and Richmond, refused to shift the kickoff time which meant that the game kicked off at the same time as the following televised event-

Are you seriously suggesting that Welling are after financial benefits to agree to a 1pm kick-off ?? This is complete rumour-mongering ... there is no evidence of this.
Perhaps Welling are looking for some sort of direct fianacial incentive to agree to the change....
What a load of old tosh. How you can come on here and say that is almost beyond belief. That comment 'appears' to imply we want some money from Chelmsford before agreeing a KO switch.
Why post it and why do you think that might be the case? Tom's suggestion implies we don't want Chelmsford backed well by their fans - a footballing reason.

Tom offered one suggestion as to why Welling might not switch the game. I offered another. I would have thought that it would be worth around £2k to City to get the game switched. So is it really so far-fetched to see a situation where a cash-strapped club like Welling might suggest cutting the cake down the middle....
I was interested to read your remark that you wouldn't want City "backed well by their fans" as though you feel the "stay at home supporters" would exclusively be City fans.... If the game isn't switched then shirley the same proportion of fans from the two clubs will stay away so Welling would not be "backed well by their fans" too, GaryH....
Just one of a number of possible explanations for Tom's suggestion that Welling may not wish to play ball, Kevin....
We dont even know that they dont want to play ball !! We dont know anything about it .. we can only assume. So lets establish whether a switch can be agreed before assuming it wont, and for a pretty unlikely reason.
Well City can't do any more to get the kick off brought forward that's for sure. Certainly, GaryH and Tom seemed very keen on the change. So if it doesn't go ahead at least we'll all know who is to blame....
If it wasn't for the fact that I am totally stupid and have a lack of understanding of anything, I would feel that there is some 'sniping' going on.
It seems a shame that when a team affiliated to the English Football Association has a match due to be played on the same day as the International team then some flexibility cannot be granted in re-arranging the tie if agreed by both clubs.
Unless this is the case and as usual I'm totally wrong.
If the game isn't switched then shirley the same proportion of fans from the two clubs will stay away so Welling would not be "backed well by their fans" too, GaryH....
Are you for real? If 100 Welling fans planned to go but 50 turned up due to the KO time and half of the 700 Chelmsford fans didn't show then it's obvious which team it affects most.
I can't even be there on the 26th (and never have been going) but bought this up as non league attendances have dwindled for many in this league this season, including Chelmsford. Live international football will affect the gate if it's not changed. Let's hope both clubs agree a good time for the fans to watch both.
I hope we do n't change the kick off. Chelmsford can be an intimidating place to go when 1,000 supporters are behind them. Can also sway the refs as we saw last season. 600 or so would be far less so. What favours have they ever done for us?
Let's be RUTHLESS and say no 3PM it is.

Relatively, it would affect them the same, GaryH....

You'll be pleased to hear that Welling have verbally agreed to bring the kick off forward to 1pm however, worryingly, a call to the league on Friday indicated that Welling have yet to confirm the change in writing....
