Im trying to explain to my son how these PO's work...
Is this correct?
1st place = 'automatic promotion
2nd, 3rd, 4th& 5th placed teams go into playoffs, drawn from hat to play each other rather than top play bottom & mid 2 play each other? Correct? x2 legs (home & away)?
Winners from both games play each other in x2 legs, winner overall go up? no away goals etc.
Can some one please confirm if this is right, & if not what is correct?
Please note how I have not mentioned us, as do not want to get too carried away with still a number of games (x9?) to play. Even though I think we are the more than capable!!! COYW!!!

My understanding is different - sure some-one will put us right. I thought the 2nd placed played the 5th place and 3rd played 4th. One game with the highest placed team being at home. Final is one off game at neutral venue.
Chelwing is right as far as I can remember! 2nd play 5th home and away. 3rd play 4th home and away. Winners on aggregate score .Extra time and pens if scores are even. One off final. Winner takes all.

Mr X your negativity stuns me I'm afraid. I believe and I want my positive energy to pervade this message board. Lets show the team that we believe in them.
You cant supress the optimism being expressed by fans with a team that is by far and wide the best that has been seem for some years. When you add this to what has happened to the club and the tremendous support that the supporters have put in, the optimism is just reward for everyones efforts so far.
Rather than suppressing peoples thoughts they should be encouraged. Positive support here will help the team. They know it is one step at a time and they have some tough games ahead but they have shown what they can do down to a man.
So lets carry on with the euphoria and enjoy what we have achived so far and what may happen and I am sure the boys will contine ue to make every effort to get to the play offs
Exactly! It is in our hands now (unless my maths has failed me). I cannot remember the last time the play offs were in our hands after 30 games of the season. It's time to start believing.
Can we all stop talking about the P word....we are miles away at the moment from this.....
I did mention in my orig' post...
Please note how I have not mentioned us, as do not want to get too carried away with still a number of games (x9?) to play. Even though I think we are the more than capable!!!
that I did not want to get carried away with it all, tempt fate etc...
But its funny as I thought this may stir up the emotions in us all - as you can see by all the lads who have replied to this post - we have our feet well & truely planted on the ground & know its still early days yet, but we 100% believe & have faith that we are/the team is more than capable of doing it.
COYW!!!

Not since the 1985/86 season have I been so impressed with our team. Of course we can get in the play offs - people who say we can't haven't been watching us this season. I know we have top clubs to play coming up but I feel we'll do alright.
As for mentioning the play offs, tempting fate etc. is there really an invisible goblin just waiting to bestow bad luck on us if we mention promotion?
I know we have top clubs to play coming up but I feel we'll do alright.
And we will do alright because we are a top club. Welling fans shouldn't have an inferiority complex when it comes to teams like Ebbsfleet and Chelmsford. Sure these other teams have bigger attendances and more money than us, but we have the most talented squad in our division and the best manager, so **** the other promotion challengers

We got thumped 4-0 by Ebbsfleet and only beat Chelmo thanks to Pullen's (well deserved) clanger. It's going to be a tough period of games, but if we go in with a good run of form we should be alright.
