Well, I hate to leave these stimulating exchanges, guys but I'm leaving now for Bishops Stortford - Chelmsford City have a league game there scheduled for this evening. Good luck for your game against Ebbsfleet this evening. I hope your players keep fit. I'd hate to see any of your key players absent for this Saturday's game....
JGFC, the owners of Chelmsford City (i.e. 140+ fans including me and Peter Foster) are well aware of the financial situation and are comfortable with it as it stands. It's not perfect but we knew it would cost us a fair bit to get back into Chelmsford. Although our debt to individuals has gone up over £150k since 2007, this is to indivduals who do not want the money back and will be converting their debt into equity when the club changes constitution into a CIC. This was planned for losses which our board agreed to cover and was not due to wild speculation on cup runs, sponsorship/investment that wasn't forthcoming or bigger crowds than we expected to get. Since 2009, we have been actively reducing our outgoings so that we've reached the point that this season we are breaking even whilst paying down material debt (i.e. to individuals that want their money back, to the council, our brewrey loan and also a small bank loan and overdraft). Most importantly, we are up to date on all tax etc.
So yes, in the past few years we have spent more than the club generates in revenue but as I mentioned this was planned for. We have a large debt figure on paper but when the CIC goes through this will come down significantly and we will just be left with long term debts which we can currently afford to pay. We are lucky in that our recently departed commercial manager has left us in a position whereby we generate signifcant revenues from non footballing sources which allows us to be able to service all this debt and field a competative team (although its not been that competative lately!). We are in with as good a shout as most of making the play offs, and yet we have only had a budget of £160k this season (£4.1k over are 39 week season and that includes the money the club has to pay in NI). Our finances are not perfect, but the good thing is that we as owners/fans are fully aware of the situation and support the current board fully as they are well on top of everything. That said, it will give me a lot more comfort when the CIC does go through and the majority of our debt is off our books.
I'm very pleased that you guys appear to have come through the worst of your problems. The fact the transfer embargo has been lifted suggests a much rosier picture than only 3 months ago. I'm looking forward to tomorrow immensley as it is a must win for both sides. We both like to play good football and I can see their being plenty of goals in the game. We have some key injuries to some of our big players, but we will still have a competative team out there to give you a good game. We also have a much better keeper now so hopefully we won't be gifting you 3 points like last time (hopefully!) Remember its a 1pm kick off as well!

Dont call me Shirley, or Kevin for that matter, when quoting my comment its obvious it refers to me. Surely you can see that Peter, Peter, Peter.
OOOO!!!! I'm getting on your nerves a bit, aren't I, Kevin....
Not in the least Peter, just think you're an arse.
I'm sure to lose a lot of sleep over that, Kevin....
No. I think I AM getting on your nerves, Kevin, hence your posts-
1. Peter, for reference Peter, the constant naming of who you are addressing Peter, proves irritating Peter. Just in case you wondered Peter, this message is aimed at you .... Peter.

Definite indications of irksomeness on your part there, shirley, Kevin....
PF, do you ever make any posts about FOOTBALL ???!!! In fact, have you ever been to watch a football match .... you seem to spend most of your life posting smug, self-satisfied crap on other team's fora. Arse

I'm flattered that you have studied my messageboard activities in sufficient detail to feel qualified to make such a judgement, oldcoach.... I note the little insult slipped in at the end of your posting, oldcoach! A sure sign that you have lost it. You're not a fan of The Fast Show are you....
......."have you ever been to a football match............."
Oh yes Peter has been to PVR before and decided to stand right in the middle of the home supporters.
So not only an arse but an antagonistic arse at that.
If you recall, Wingnut, when I took up my position there was no one within 10 yards of me. But don't let the truth stand in the way of a good story, will you....

The truth being that you knew full well what was going to happen after that, and where the home fans were likely to stand.

Stop polluting our board.
I knew no such thing, Kevin, not being blessed with the gift of clairvoyance. I assumed that having paid my admission I could stand wherever I chose on the terraces as is the case at most other grounds in my experience, including ours.
Stop polluting your board? Well, Kevin, it might help if you ceased posting in this string - a string I started. After all, the posting to which I am now responding is your 7th....
I have been reading with great interest the postings in this thread. And to someone as mentally unstable as myself it concerns me that our dear friend Peter Foster may be just being misunderstood.
Before anyone else starts to deliver any unsavoury comments to my good friend Mr Foster I would like to let you all know about a fantastic day out that he and I had.
It was a sunny morning when I was allowed out of my padded cell and went unaccompanied for a walk around the hospital grounds. As I closed the doors behind me I turned to see a young man sitting by the curb with his head in his hands. I could hear a gentle weeping, so I stopped and asked him if he was ok. He replied did your parents ever ask you to run away from home? No I replied. Mine did he said. I tried to comfort him by saying Dont feel bad. A lot of people have no talent. I sat beside him and tried to comfort him, we started to chat, and, I could see that we had things in common. We liked football and as it turned out, we both liked a drink. None of that beer rubbish, oh no, we both enjoyed skittle bombs. As time passed us by it became obvious that although alone he was in bad company. I asked him if he wanted to join me for a walk around the hospital grounds, to which he replied yes.
As we walked through the gardens I gently asked despite what it has done to you, do you like nature? He smiled, at last someone was taking notice of him and this made him feel better. Just ahead of us was an ice-cream van, do you fancy a lolly? I asked. My new friend Peter then took hold of my arm and said I do. He then ran and skipped his way down the garden path to the ice-cream seller. As I strolled along, I could see Peter engaging in conversation with Mr Whippy. Within a minute or two I approached Mr Whippy. I looked around to see where he was but there was no sign of him. I jumped up and could see a man lying in a pool of mint choc chip ice cream. He had passed out. With my expert knowledge of first-aid I soon had him back on his feet. He thanked me and said to Peter Perhaps your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others. We took our lollies and said our goodbyes.
By now Peter was chatting away and I was nodding at the appropriate moment with a comforting smile. Pete asked Am I boring you? No I replied, Keep talking. I always yawn when I'm interested. Peter carried on talking and we both carried on walking. As he broke for an intake of breath I asked As an outsider, what do you think of the human race? He continued to talk and talk and talk.
An hour of my two hours free time was up and to be honest, I had, had enough. Politely I told him that I as due back and that matron would be worried for me. We both began to stroll back to the institution when Peter delivered the devastating news....
extra City Ale (6% gravity dispense) will be available.
Really? Hope and Glory (4.5% gravity dispense) was all I saw available.
I also queued patiently at the burger van for a Bubble and Squeak burger only to be informed we only sell it in the winter. Here is a hint; if you don't sell something, don't advertise it!!
