Below is a post on the Gravesend Forum, it seems that the local Council have sorted the waters for the Fleet to move to a new stadium, What with Dartford's Council also doing the neccessary it shows Bexley as a bunch of Charlton Athletic brown nosers who treat their Football Supporting Residents as lepers.

Mr Hobbins has stated that the Council have never offered to spend a penny on Park View Road in the last 27 years. A few years ago (decades) we looked into a new Stadium down by the Black Prince but their were drainage issues and in any case the Superstore that was planned for PVR never came off. I agree we should ask for local backing from the Council BUT it is down to the club to get that, If they havent acheived that in 27 years how are one or two fans going to do it?

I suppose we could cite the other Kent Councils and say "Oi Bexley you have done a big fat Nothing for Welling United FC and its supporters. The club are the Biggest Club in the Borough and are on the brink of The League that leads to the Football League. How about looking into A new Stadium or expanding and improving Park View Road?".

Taking Mr Hobbins statement into account. What exactly has he asked the Council to do in the past 3 decades?? Surely it is HIS job to bend the council's ear? And if as he says they have done Sweet FA for us then he should have took it higher or gone to the press.

Does anybody have any views on why Dartford and Gravesend as well as UK Wide Semi Pro clubs get well treated by their Councils and We do not? There must be a reason for it.

Take a look at some of the Superb stadiums going up recently....

The list goes on Hinckley Weston and the clubs such as Stevenage, Hednesford. Some of these grounds do have a Tescos type feel but the grounds serve the local community and allow the Club to progress by being Football League Standard, thus bringing more people to the boroughs to spend more money. There are lots of new grounds in planning or that have been built with Councils backing their local clubs. I would be interested in how the Wings Supporters get on and if the past history between Welling United FC and the Local Council gets into the public domain. We all know the council couldnt give a toss about us but why?

Its about time they started to otherwise will could be handicapped by PVR with the ground grading criterea being tightened and stadiums being built and improved with council support.

As i said the post below is from The Gravesend Forum.

I have just returned from the council meeting that was held at the Club house at Stonebridge Road I am still in shock as I am sure are the other half dozen or so Gravesend faithfull.

The news that we have all been waiting for was announced tonight.

That Gravesend council, along with government agencies and the club are working together to ensure that a new stadium is built for GNFC.

The news came as such a shock and was so matter of fact that we all did a double take. Quotes were checked and re-checked , but no it was not a mistake.

A full report will appear in the Gravesend Reporter this week and also in Fridays non-league.

Councillor Burden who I believe had taken a fair bit of stick from some fans, was amazing, he even had his photo taken wearing a "Fleet First" wristband.

He stated at the meeting that the council has not had any real contact from Gillingham for some five months and that whoever it had been that had approached the council re a stadium or sharing would have been listened to in the same way. But he said " we are Gravesend Council and we cover Gravesend and Northfleet area, so GNFC are our local club".

After this part of the meeting was over a few of us went outside for some fresh air, still not really believing what had happened, but it was true, we had all heard it right, even the reporters from the Reporter could not believe it, they left, wearing one of the wristbands as well.

It's not going to happen tomorrow, but it is happening and I think, Brian and the board, along with John Burden and the council all deserve a huge vote of thanks from us all.

We can all do out bit, we need more people to come to matches, we need to increase the cash going into club, more than ever we need a good positive feel about GNFC. The feel good factor in catching, lets make sure we all encourage others to feel about the club as we all do.

Come on you Reds, wherever you play, I for one will always support you.
