I should hope so! It's just disappointing to see some of what's being said on here after possibly missing out on what we've all hoped for and what the team have worked so hard for this season.
There is no getting away from the fact that recent results have been disappointing but had we not been deducted 5 points we would not have been sweating on the results of others to secure a play off place.
Despite the recent results the players have already earned enough points on the pitch to have secured a play off position and mathematically they could have finished runners up with a win against Basingstoke. However bitter a pill some may find it, if we don't get into the play offs then the reponsibility for failing to get there is entirely down to the club.
As far as the 'off the pitch stuff' goes its a bit premature to say that we have overcome the off field problems. What we have done is managed to survive a season, largely due to the substantial amount of money loaned and donated to the club by supporters. I have yet to see any significant changes in the running of the club which were told would happen last August.
Spot on bruno, Welling United as a club have yet to make any progress in the way we are run as a club.
The club needs to recognise it needs help, and the supporters association can offer help and ideas.
Put to one side the playing side of this season, which has been excellent and entertaining to watch. I feel I have had value for my from the management team and all the players involved.
We still need to advance in so many areas. when in November last year it was thought Welling United could go out of buisiness, the supporters rallied round and found a way to turn things round.
We still need that mental attitude, the people running the club need to wake up and look for help.
The starting point is now, are there supporters who can suggest ideas who will be excepted by the board. There were comments that representitives would be voted in to voice the fans ideas, that has not happened yet as far as I know.
Changes are needed now to be worked on before the start of next season.
I fear history will keep repeating unless lessons are learned.
Win or lose this coming Saturday and how ever this season finishes,Welling United is the team for a real hard core of dedicated fans. We need to see a bit more dedication from the people running the club.
Do you remember away at Luton how the players came to applaud the supporters, they knew we where there for them in there hour of need, for the football and the running of the club.
I truly believe there needs to be a better rapour between club and fans.
What needs to happen to make this idea a reality? I wish I knew.
I cant go on any more, I just need for Saturday to come round and support my team and let out this frustration.
And then celebrate a fantastic season at the presentation with fellow supporters and the team, I hope to shake all the players and coaches by hand.
