Mark Green,  who was out of contract with Margate and was their Captain. Left Back who is returning from a broken leg. Signed on a one year deal, he is cup tied. Margate fans give mixed views, some say he is average, some say he will do well at a higher level. Wont be cheap and has an agent (Cyrille Regis). I did laugh when the Gate fans said is Welling a higher level? No!! and Pennock is too young to be a (Good) Manager. He was previously at Gillingham. Handford will know him well and looks (on paper) another excellent signing for the club. At least we have cover at Right Back again when Gleds is working (Matt Lee).

Welcome Mark and we hope your stay is a long and successful one. Let shope you are in the Conference National with us next season.

I've seen him three times. He does blow hot and cold and probably given that his manager/agent is a legend, probably thinks he should be playing even higher than us.

No punctuation and again the useless tit-bit of info: "Mark is a former Gillingham defender who once [my emphasis]trained with Pennock." For God's sake man.


Worse still, you would've thought that the club's official site would have the common courtesy to actually adress our manager as Adrian Pennock or at least "Ade". This constant Pennocking' is pathetic.

What is a pacy defender?. Also most of the male Wings fans can claim to be an Ex England Schoolboy. Very Shoddy. Wow, i tried to copy the text from Official Site and it added the picture too.

Mark is a former Gillingham trainee who had a spell on loan at Hastings United. An ex-England Schoolboy once played with Pennock back in his Gillingham days. Mark is pacy defender with good ball control as well as a tremendous shot. Mark captained Margate FC but decided to move on, as he wanted to find a club higher up the non-league pyramid. Signed for Welling United in October 05.

Used to play with Mark at boys level for Longfield Tigers.  At the time he was playing on the left wing, but will always remember him for his quick pace, strong shot and well timed tackles.  Saw him for Gills reserves a few times and still has the same abilities.

I'm sure you're very proud of your son Mrs Green, but even the most one eyed parent would surely not  suggest that as the level of football he has played has dropped consistently, he's still managed to maintain the quality of a full-time Championship/League One professional.


As I posted earlier, he's not bad, but not that great for this level either. He's certainly not up to the standard of the team from which he was unceremoniously punted many moons ago (even though he trained with Ade the glorious 'once'.)


Something we surely miss at this club has to be objectivity. (That and a trustworthy teenage supporter base that does not forge scurrilous and sexual internet scams.)

Greenie is an out and out left sided player.  Playing at full back for the "gate" he was brilliant until his broken leg.After that despite him hanging on in here while recouperating,he has not been the same. Given the captains armband in return for him to remain at hartsdown (in my opinion) was a bad move.His extra responsibilities played havoc on his form and he has never been the same since.He will be a good asset but I just wonder,despite his thinking that a football league place is within reach,if he will ever be the same again. I wish him the best but he really isnt football league standard and the quicker he realises that the better it will be for him i.m.o. Apparently he caused trouble in the dressing room too and was a disruptive influence in his last days at Margate. (rumoured only might I add). We will watch his progress,if any,with interest.
