They are advertsing it at Lidls in Aberdeen but didnt find any. Thats probably quite good as I might have struggled getting a few cases back on the flight.
Ive been here three times now and it should be closed
The last couple of specials that they've done have been really nice. Burns Ale and Dragons somethingoranother. I bought loads of the Burns Ale it was so nice.
I stocked up on the Masterbrew last week so don't really need many but I'll still pop in and get some tomorrow.
They were also doing St Hellier cider 2 X 500ml bottles for £2. Apple, Pink Pear and Blackcurrent. Very refreshing served cold on a warm day. No ice though. No idea where that idea came from. They'll be putting it in beer soon.
I went to the working mans club in Swanley yesterday and had a couple of pints of Whitbreads. Thought that had packed up years ago. It was very pleasant.
They still had a few Masterbrews left yesterday. The Summer Sizzlers were tucked away at the back but there were quite a few there even after I'd raided it.
Funny isn't it. The two i want are the ones you don't like :D By the time I've finished in Lidl's, there won't be any left, so they can have more space for the beers you like :)
I tried Waggle Dance when it was Young's but couldn't say it was one I'd try again. Probably the only Young's beer I don't like. Apart that is from the old Saxon lager they used to brew. I'm not that keen on lager but that really was the pits. Worse than Harp.
I'm not a lover of non traditional beers. The worst one I've tried lately is Desperados. It's Tequila flavoured lager. What's worse, it's brewed in France.
Wells Waggle Dance 5% (thought this was Young's at one time)
Brains Rev James Ale 4.5%
Young's London Gold Ale 4.8%
500ml bottles for £1.29.
I'll go for the Young's and Brains but not keen on the other two.
Waggle Dance was Vaux until the brewery closed down. Youngs then bought the recipe but I guess now Wells and Youngs are the same thing, it has been re-badged as Wells. I'm not keen on that but even less so the Banana Bread.
Youngs London Gold is a fine Bottle Conditioned Beer and is my favourite of those sold in the clubhouse when no proper beer is available.
The first time I tried Harp lager was down The Lord Wellington (became The Henry Cooper many years later) in the Old Kent Road. I tried it a few times and each time I threw up. It used to physically make me vomit.
Some years later I looked it up and discovered that it was brewed by Guinness for people that didn't like beer. They worked on the same principal as ice cream. Sell it cold enough and nobody will really taste it.
When they brewed it, it was colourless so they added maize to the brew to give it the golden colour. It must have been the maize that affected me because it was the only beer that had that effect.
I even drank Watney's Starlight without problems and that had to be about the worst beer ever.
