Seating plan at ground seems to be filling up, Pitch has come on the last couple of weeks (Note club spent a large 4 figure sum on pitch in close season)...

Charlton have a few new signings and are bringing their First Team squad down.

Hopefully a massive gate.

If anyone wants to guarantee a seat get to the club before 5pm today or office hours tomorrow. There were 950 seats on sale and still some are left. There should be no problems getting in on the terraces and paying on the gate on the day but dont turn up at 245pm.

Should have last years friendly between Welling and Charlton on DVD on the big screen in the bar playing before the match from 1pm ish so get there early and beat the queues!!

Also dont forget the Wings new kit should be on sale in the Club Shop along with the Welling United Season Review DVD (if it sells out you can order a copy still in the shop), plus New Mugs and New Scarfs.

Lets hope its a great game and plenty of Addicks turn up.

£12 on the gate or £12 in Advance or £14 for entry and a seat in advance. If you are passing, or local its definitely worth getting your seat sorted today or tomorrow (Friday).

If you definitely want a seat in one of the stands then get your ticket today or tomorrow and guarantee a seat.

Got my five stand tickets ages ago and can't wait for the game.  I really do hope that the weather holds out and we get a good crowd down.  The more that attend, the more the club can benefit - that passes down the line to Jamie and the playing staff - hopefully.  We need bums on seats and feet on terraces, not only for this game, but for the whole season.

Our dedicated players/staff are going to be up for it this season, so let's get behind the team and prove we are the best.

5 seats is a bit excessive just for you Steve :o) Are you where we normally sit? I'll be in the bar from 2 if you fancy a beer.

Right here we go, Match Day. I dare say there will be updates in this thread.

If anyone is reading this and tempted to go... Tickets are available on the gate £12 Terrace, not sure if any seats are left. Be aware there could be a gate of 3000 today so dont leave it till late before getting to the ground as the turnstiles are likely to get very busy if everyone turns up at 2:50pm

Weather seems ok so far so we look set for a big crowd as Charlton fans will be desperate to see the Mighty Wings and get a first look at their new signings also.

I will try and get line ups up before the game and at Half Time, if they are given out that is.

Kick off 3pm see you all down there.

Radio Kent report torrential rain at Welling, which surprised me because SE1 is fairly dry with a brief lunchtime drizzle shower.

Both sides hit the bar in the first half - Loick for us within 90 seconds.

Charlton's scorer a trialist called Williams.

Awful game. As more triallists came on for us we got worse and shorter! Interesting way for the management team to treat the flagship pre season friendly. You would expect that against Erith Town or Thamesmead, but not against Charlton!

There were no team sheets and the tannoys are so poor that you couldn't hear the announcements.

Welling's team was Whithouse, Fazakerley, Johnson, Day, Parkinson, Sambrook, George ?, Clarke, Cumbers, Pugh, Pires.

Daisy was replaced at half time and all the others, apart from Captain Jack, were replaced by unknowns at various points over the last 30 minutes.

Don't agree that the first half was awful.  Thought it was quite entertaining and we matched Charlton when we had the bulk of our first team squad on the pitch.  Agree that things went downhill when the triallists came on, clearly playing against League One players was a bit too much for some of them.  I thought Loui had another superb game at right back, shame we really need him to play on the wing.

I think the crowd was announced as 2313.  If so that's good news and a reward to those who worked hard publicising the game at Danson last week.

I was Surprised and Pleased to see Ben Grenhaugh come on at the end albeit at left back.

This was the best thing about the game today. A lot of people turned up and Welling United made a lot of money from ticket sales, merchandise, booze etc. Agreed about the people that worked hard at the Danson festival

Also agree with Danson Mark about the tannoys. They couldn't compete with the noise of over 2000 people. I don't think i understood a single announcement until someone was substituted near the end of the game and most of the crowd were quiet.

Thought we were good first half and better team, we made changes which is only right in my opinion after the break and we made an error and charlton took over. We could have been at least 2-0 up early and wouldnt have been undeserved. Very encouraging first half.

Our 7 in first half was Joe Tabiri who was at Dover last season, likes to pass it about.

Will get some video highlights up probably between 10 and 11 tonight.

As a primarily Charlton fan / wings follower, actually a bit disappointed it wasn't a bigger gate as i know how crucial it is to Welling.

Thought Welling looked tidy and decent throughout, the gap between Conf South and the Football League seems to be narrowing every year. Thought the last young goalie to come on looked well out of his depth, and impacted on the score. Greenhaugh come out at left mid, not left back.

It was great seeing the young kids taking pens at half time, and a real shame that the cheerleaders didn't get any music to work off. Saying the tannoy couldn't compete with the crowd is ridiculous, as it was a very silent 2,000.

Also the blokes bogs behind the main stand were locked, which shouldn't be happening.

From all Charlton fans, good luck to Welling this season and hope come next May you get what you really deserved last season.

I'd rather p1ss my pants than go in those bogs behind the main stand. Proper filth!

On a seperate note it was good to see a new tea hut behind the new stand, and in the Wings colours. A great effort and thanks to those who put this in place.

Will it do hot food in the close seaon or is this a bottle bar type arrangment?

Not ridiculous at all. No one standing at either end of the ground could hear the announcements until near the end of the match. I'm sure those sitting down heard things fine.

I asked Barrie for a team sheet for my match report but he told me there would not be one due to the number of players involved an that I would have to listen to tannoy announcements.

Hmmm!

My understanding is that the hut will be doing teas, coffees, soft drinks, sweets, crisps etc but not hot food.  Not sure you could get any more in there.

Had my usual seat just in front of the press box and I found it difficult to hear the tannoy today.

I was sitting a bit nearer to the tannoys than you Dave and I couldn't hear very well either. I think Matthew was suffering a bit too which probably didn't help. Bad cold or hay fever.

The first half was good and we held our own. Inevitably in the 2nd half when we brought the trialists on and they put out their stronger side things went downhill.

Of the trialists, I thought the 18 did very well. No idea what his name was.

Think that was the lad released from Cardif City. Tannoy was very poor we could do with new speakers and a couple of wireless ones in the new stand. Gary had to come round shouting to try and find some youngsters grandfather. Not ideal. Thats without being unable to hear any line ups and subs. The tannoy/speakers are terrible really and need replacing ASAP. If a situation kicked off it would be bedlam.

I thought Jordan had a stormer yesterday. We will see how good the trailists are when we play the likes of Margate etc in the coming weeks. Very pleasing first half display dont read anyhting into 2nd half as it was more or less a trialist team.

I thought jordan was good first half. Hes deffo a left sided player rather than central i think. Would be interested to see if he can develop in a central role as we have less cover there than on the left if Stella comes back.

its a bit 70s pre match aint it.

Aint no stopping us now for run out tune would be good again, mix and match for pre match would be good, some oldies, some chart and some latest. Also different music each game not same few songs.

If thats a new system then it needs a more powerful amp or better speakers or the club have been turned over.

First half was pretty even and hard to tell who was the League One side for the first 20/25 minutes. Nice to see Parky playing in his proper position too and thought the bloke wearing seven (Tabiri?) looked very neat and tidy.

Fully agree with taking our players off during the second half. We are a part time side, back in training for about a week so don't see the point of flogging the players at this stage and a greater chance of them picking up injuries. Daisy already knows 14 of his squad (if Stella and Parky are still here) so needs to look at other options.

Crowd was 2,313.........mmmm........was it counted by the same people as did the Dartford game on NYD.....
