Yes it was. An ok game but not great. Can't complain as it was only £5 to get in. We should have scored several goals, but their goalkeeper and defender wearing 2 (the one with the mohican)were actually quite good. Noticed VCD had two players wearing number 2 in the second half!

Was a nice ground, first time I'd been there and a very well kept pitch i have to say. Was also good to chat to Dave the camera guy at last.

You are joking about the pitch! It might have lookied good but was awful and the reason for Sambrook's injury.

Overheard in the bar after the game:

"They said the grass was too long and the reason for their 2's injury."
"I know, I'm cutting it tomorrow."

May I suggest VCD are politely told where to go next pre-season - Andy Sambrook's not the first of our players to be injured down there.

One Kent League friendly is enough.

Keeper was Jack Bradshaw who has been trialling with us and played for us in pre season, looked a bit better the last game he played and looked much better today for VCD. Pitch was too long. Friendly club who were robbed of their Ryman place after Harlow were in a relegation place and stayed in the league as VCD put a path in that wasnt acceptable then when they re did it they said oh well it wasnt ready when it should have been done. Check out the committees for Ryman League and Harlow Town...

Good Luck to them in the Kent League notwithstanding the pitch being too long and the reason Sammy got stretchered off. I would ask that if we send our first team down there the pitch is short, Russ is right thats not the first time one of ours has been crocked by the surface.

Will have some highlights up later tonight.

You reap what you sow. I'm sure the old VCD cricket team weren't crying in their beer at that decision...

I don't know the intricate details but the football club shat on the cricket club some years ago, forcing them out behind their backs in order to get a better pitch with a perimeter fence and that silly temporary stand they used to have. VCD now seems to be a football club with a bowls section attached rather than the all round sports club it used to be - the tennis courts on the right just inside the entrance have been left to rack and ruin.

I believe the pavilion is still used as the changing rooms.

 No sorry, I can't agree with x2 of your points made;

Their number 2 with the mohican was chasing shadows to me all afternoon - looked totally out of his depth.

The pitch as Russ pointed out was not up to scratch, ....but they did have Sky TV in their bar, which more than we have.

Though the keeper who we did have on trial, (& I suppose it was always on the cards) played a blinder - especially the save from Big Joe's header in the 1st half.

New Kent league sponsor very apt after some of the tackling from Kent league teams.
