The Kent Youth League

I read some of the threads on here and would like to write a few words on the subject as i do know a fair bit about it. It may seem that sometimes the wings youth teams are struggling but i can assure everybody that the standard in this league is very good and the players need a very good skill level to compete at this level.

Welling United U18 are struggling in the League this year but it does take time to attract the Players to a new side, the Name of the club obviously helps but it is my understanding that the team representing the wings this season is basically Danson Furness from last season and obviously just because the name has changed dosent turn the players into league winners.

I would also disagree that we need a PASE side to justify having a youth set up, if the club were serious about the youth set up this would attract the best players from a large area to play for the youths but i dont think they are, if they were they would have got more behind the lads, it is my understanding that the youth players have no official standing within the club and have to even pay for 1st team games at PVR. Get someone in who knows the scene and wants to do well at the wings and we will soon start producing players of the calibre of Standen, Turner and Burgess who were i believe all former KYL Players who made the grade and played 1st team football.
