Hi all. Its that time of the year when Welling United have their annual home fixture against arch rivals Woking. Welling came into this game on there best form in years as they had completed five straight victories. Woking also came into this match on a high form as they too were unbeaten all season.
It took thirteen minutes for Welling to take the lead, Andy Pugh crossed a quick ball into the box leaving a five man scramble between the Welling attack and the Woking defence. The ball fell to Ben Martin who hit the ball into the back of the net, courtesy of his left knee. It didnt take Woking long to reply as five minutes later Woking midfielder Cowen-Hall found himself through the Wings defence and saw the keeper of his goal-line to chip Dan Thomas from twenty-three yards.
Jack Parkinson showed why he should be the captain as he saw his tantalising shot fly into the net, after a staggering and heart-stopping shot. The goal left Welling 2-1 ahead at the Half-Time interval.
Parky returned again as he saw another shot spin past the opposition goalkeeper to send Welling cruising to the top of the table for a fourth consecutive week. But it wouldnt be a local derby without a late twist as Sole got a goal back for Woking to leave a door open and hope to get something out of the game. Woking then dominated for the final few minutes but did not got the so needed goal and saw Welling take all three points. The win means Welling now have set an all time club record with SIX consecutive wins as Woking loose their first game of the season. First place domination over second. Third place Dartford also lost their first game of the season as they lost 3-2 away to Basingstoke. Basingstokes victory now leaves Welling comfortably sitting at the top of the Blue Square South Table five points ahead of second placed Woking.

My dear Blonde kid in a Hoodie, A very accurate report which is totally spot on and unquestionable. And as you say "it wouldn't be a local derby without a late twist".
Is six consecutive wins really a club record? I certainly don't remember us doing that in recent years, but we had a few good runs under Brigden or Hobbins?
It isn't Moo. My results archive only goes back to the 86/87 season and we certainly had a 7 game winning run between 29 Nov 1989 and 27 January 1990.
Out of interest we don't have to go back far for a six game winning run since we achieved this between 19 Feb 2011 and 19 March 2011 as part of a 12 match unbeaten run.

Ben scored with his nadgers, confirmed after by the big man, becoming the second player for Welling after Neil Clemmence 20 years ago to score with his scrotes.
I told him before the game he would score and have Hammond in his pocket.
Well played Ben, same again next week.

Someone else would do it (James did it for 6 years!!), and others do loads too, the club shop, stewarding, work around the ground, Fundraising / Gigs from WUSA and Patsy and Sy, reports in press by Matt, Mark and Greg, the superb photos of Dave Budden, Keith Gillard and David Brown, Dan doing the official site and travelling from Wiltshire to games, the WUSA Committee devote hours each week for the good of the club . Lots of people are trying to pull everything together and make things better and the players are giving everything and more on the pitch. Truly United at the moment, ive probably left some people out but you know who you are.
We saw today how the fans reacted to some promotions and a bit of get up and go i hope we do another for a game where we arent expecting a great gate. Great to see Charlton fans come along and also Millwall. We need to be a little proactive to make new people come along and keep the buzz at park view road going, which im sure we can do.
Ive got an idea and ran it by WUSA Chairman and Treasurer today, i think its a big goer for a gate we are expecting a low crowd for and i will have a chat with the Hobbins when i can and see if they fancy going for it, had a brief chat with Barrie today and Rowan had a good point which should be incorperated.
Great day, Absolutely buzzing and proud of everyone connected with our club today. Shows you what can be done.
Nice whip round for Malcolms present too.
What would be great is if a few more get down to Dorchester next week, im sure we will have 80 or so lets get it over a 100 and be as loud as today. Trains are direct from Waterloo.
Frosty is lined up for an Interview soon :P
How could i forget One Eric Brackstone who has been superb in getting advertising in...
