Sunday Cup test for Town

TOWN'S home FA Cup clash with non-League Welling United has been put back to Sunday, November 6.


The first-round tie has been switched on Police advice and will kick-off at 1pm.


The other first-round ties in West Yorkshire - Bradford v Tranmere and Halifax Town v S****horpe - had already been put back 24 hours from the Saturday.

Now, Town have been forced to follow suit leaving only Leeds United, at home to Preston in the Championship, to play on Bonfire Day in this region.



Town secretary Ann Hough explained: "The Police want the tie to be played on the Sunday like the other FA Cup games in this area.



"The 1pm kick-off was Welling's preference so that they can get at least some of the return journey done in daylight."



Town have still to agree admission prices with the Conference South club and the FA.

1PM Kick off might see you boys on sky if no other games get early start on a sunday

I think the travelling in daylight ruse hides the real reason. Very Clever by Graham and Barrie. Get in at 1pm against a side top of the table and hope the replays go in our favour making the BBC's 1pm game a gimme to us. Also there will be extended highlights if we arent live at half time and full time as they usually do on a Sunday of the other games. Good Move Graham.

Chasetown beat Blyth Spartans 1-0 Hoorah!. Beeb surely cant logistically do Chasetown Live (Midland Alliance average crowds of 16??) One of the main dangers to us that one i think.
