As I walked round at the start of the second half, Loui Fazakerley was on a right wing raid and the linesman shouted no foul, no foul, no foul at the Bromley left back. When the defender then made the tackle at the cost of a corner, the linesman shouted 'well done'. What's that all about?

surely not?!
It is not uncommon to hear linesmen shouting stuff like this. I guess they would say they are encouraging players to play within the laws of the game. I think they should shut up and concentrate on doing their job properly. The one in front of the main stand on Saturday kept his flag up for ages for an off side when the referee had already called the game back to a previous foul. One of the few times he did us a favour.
The Ref thinks you are over exaggerating, about being 40 yards behind play in incidents

@nolsw I may have been caught occasionally on the back foot but 40 yards seems a bit of an exaggeration.

@nolsw is another local ref from maidstone
Perhaps all match reporters should approach Mr Holderness for a quote should he referee another Welling game this season given his willingness to provide them shortly afterwards anyway on Twitter.
