As expected we now have a quite ridiculous level of expectation at matches. It would seem the Welling way. Yes, we have a good team. Yes, we should be beating sides in the bottom three but the general reaction to 10 shakey minutes yesterday was as over the top in the other direction.
Well done to Russ for setting the tone by actually reminding people we had lost one match all season. Short memories people? We would have all killed for this at any time in the last five years. This team is worthy of a bit more belief, even when they aren't necessarily getting it right, as they are generally finding a way.
Anyone who thought the referee was a homer yesterday, stand by for an afternoon of extreme frustration next week. Away sides don't get much anyway, lower league sides get even less. Put the two together and guess how many 50-50s are likely to go our way.
That said I don't think this lot will freeze and will give a good account of themselves. Whether that will be good enough to bridge the gap, who knows?
