Welling bounced back from last Saturday's defeat at Eastleigh with a comfortable home victory again bottom of the table Hampton and Richmond.
It took just six minutes for welling to score as a ball was swung in, Hampton defenders struggled to reach the ball before Antony Acheampong could nod the ball into the net from HALF A YARD out. 1-0 soon became 2-0 as in the 37th minute the lead was doubled by who other but wellings top striker, Andy Pugh. After some amazing footwork by Luis Cumbers, On the right wing, Gave the ball to Joe Heal whose shot was then deflected into the path of Andy Pugh who eased the ball into the goal and left welling cruising to victory.
The second half was a nail biter as 2 incredible opportunities for welling were not taken soon enough. The first was Andy Pugh who was left one-on-one with the goalkeeper tried to bury the ball into the bottom corner of the net was saved. Then Andy soon had another shot, again saved but this time fell to Luis Cumbers who had an open goal to shoot from 10yards but took one touches to many as he allowed a defender back to put pressure back on.
Hampton pulled a goal back on the 53rd min as virtually, out of nothing, the ball found his was to the Hampton attacker Drmola who found only Dan Thomas to get the ball past and he did by slotting the ball into the bottom corner. The last 20mins was all Hampton but welling held on for the 3 vital points as Woking also had a win away at Truro. Welling remain 6points off the league.
