Promises to be quite a day, loads staying down there and some coming back that night. Weather will probabaly be horrendous. New ground for most of us. hell of a treck, They will probably be buzzed up having beat the HMRC in round one today.

This would be a great 3 points if we can do a job on them and it would cap a great day.

I'm guessing we will have between 60 and 100 fans there which will be some effort at a fair cost.

In-laws' residence for me hmm

Should also point out that rain is forecast between now and Friday (when it will be heavy, according to the BBC Weather web page for Truro). Cooler but drier on Saturday.

I'm driving down on Thursday evening to cram in a visit to the aforementioned family, so I will return to this thread and help others driving down with details of any road works, etc.

Have a good and safe trip to the Duchy everyone. Proper job!

Are you going to tell us some short cuts if the traffic is bad.

Please bear in mind the game kicks off at 3 pm on the Saturday!

Just eveyone else, except you...wink

I know you're getting on a bit and are - dare I say it - a bit more grey socks than white these days, but you're actually getting a train this weekend. Do you remember, dear?!!

Any idea when the team are going down there? I doubt a long coach trip on the day can't be good for the legs beforehand!

And they are back on the train that night with plenty of welling fans, weve got black bags for the windows, disco lighting and the ghettoblaster from the dressing room all lined up. The 5 hour disco train special will depart from Truro at 624 if we win... if not everyone will go asleep and sulk.

I'm amazed if the players are travelling on the 9.06 train from Paddington.  This journey involves a change of trains at Plymouth and arrival at Truro is not due until 14.02.  A delay on either of the trains involved would almost certainly mean a late kick off.  I wouldn't think the league would be happy if this happened and even if there's no delay, it doesn't seem ideal preparation for the match.

The players are on the 9.06 from Paddington but are only going by train to Plymouth. They are then getting a coach from Plymouth to Truro.

Players will be at the ground well early... by 130 ish, they also get to stretch their legs on the train and get a quick break at Plymouth for some fresh air. Jamie seems happy with the travelling plans. Seems better than them getting the 706 direct, remember people like Clarkey and Big Ben would have to get up at 4am for that.

No offence Sean but if you and the supporters are late it makes no odds, if the players are late and miss kick-off we forfeit the game/points and probably also get fined/docked points ... even not getting there in time for warm-up etc is risky.

I recall a game I went to at Rushden where we started with 9 men, including the Assistant Manage playing, as a car of players was involved in a tailback on the motorway.

Its semi pro football, we havent got the money to pay for a coach over 2 days, hotel for 20 odd people etc etc. You are looking at 3 grand plus for that, and thats if the players could all get a day off work.

I think the 906 and coach should be fine, the players SHOULD be at the ground well before an hour before kick off and thats fine. Its a big trek and im sure we will be prepared. I think they are better off on a train than on a coach for 7 hours.

We always seemed to do well at Gateshead with the players doing a similar journey (for that trip it was train to Newcastle then a cab), so there's no reason why such a journey to Truro would have any adverse effect.  As JGFC says, it'll be better for them to have a chance to stretch their legs and get some air.

Newport a couple of years ago kicked of 1/2 hour late as the team coach was held up on the M4. These things happen - if the train is delayed I can not see us getting into trouble.

Hope everyone enjoys their trip and come back with 3 points in the bag. Not a bad train journey (at least as far as Plymouth) good coastal views on leaving Exeter. Be warned though First Great Western like all train operators charge a fortune for food and drink in the buffet car. I always tend to stock up at each end. Sorry I won't be there in body but will be in spirit. I am going to watch my first every Rugby match (not bad at 60). My sons playing and I have no idea about the rules (just like BSBS officials).

Cricket's buffet in coach B of the 10.06 Cornish Riviera is now open, serving a wide range of beers, wine, spirits and snowballs.

Greetings from Truro where the weather so far is glorious (i.e. it's not raining!!)

Traffic news as promised: the A30 has (or at least had last night) the nearside lane closed for road works just over the Cornwall border at Launceston.

Hope those driving had better conditions than I did - frequent cloudbursts to welcome me back. Ah well.

Safe journey all. COYW!!

Lucky you don't have to use M5. It's just been announced on Sky that it is expected to be closed for 24hours following a multiple crash near Taunton.
