Who thinks that white numbers on pale yellow shirts is a good idea?

For those of us with dodgy eyesight I agree completely Mark. Great report by the way; almost as exciting to read as being there!

I agree. The game of the season so far, Mark's excellent report captures the evening perfectly. Thanks and well done Mark.

Thank you both for glossing over my misidentification of who conceded the penalty and got shown the yellow card!!

Welling United continued to snatch three points when on Tuesday night, they helped themslves to a tense 4-3 victory over strugglers Salisbury.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring as the referee spotted a push on the Salisbury attacker in the box and awarded Salisbury a penalty. Another given away by the Wings. The penalty was cooley slotted away by Salisbury player J.Read. Only eight minutes gone an Welling have already fallen behind. They soon got back on level terms when in the 29th minute. The ref was in the heart of it again when a handball was awarded in Wellings favour. Jamie Day relived the free kick against Dorchester as he did the same again. Bottom right corner of the goal and buried in the back of the net.

Welling could easily have been 2-1 up as they had multiple shots in a matter of seconds. 3 of them striking the bar. 1 of them seemed to be all over the line but wasnt given by the referee. It took 6 minutes from Welling being 1-0 down to 2-1 up as Jack Parkinson hit a shot in from an impossible angle but was helped into the back of the net by a Salisbury defender. Half time score settled at 2-1.

It took 5 minutes into the second half for Salisbury to be on level terms when an amazing shot was hit in the top corner of the goal. Welling turned a Salisbury break into a Welling Penalty when Salisbury had a deflected shot on goal it fell to Loui Fazakerly who passed the ball to Jack Parkinson. He set up Jamie Day to swing in a ball to Loick Pires, who got past 2 defenders and the goalkeeper before being brought down by the goalie himself. Penalty to the Wings. Red Card to the keeper. Pugh calmly guided the ball to the back of the net. 3-2 Welling, 73 minutes gone. 3-2 to 3-3 as in the 88th minute Salisbury found an equaliser and were soon heading for a undeserved point with only 4 shots in the game.

24 seconds later Welling were back in the lead. Straight from the kick off. The ball was passed to Pires who fired the ball in the side of the net. Victory for Welling. Full Time Welling United FOUR Salisbury City 3
Poor display by the refs
