Oh dear, .... i think a Capital League team is needed after the last 2 tries at a reserves/youth scheme. Capital League or Suburban for the ressies then let Mr Jeffrey sort the Youth. Do both NOW as they take planning. Did we get lucky before with our Youth set up when we had one of, if not the best outside the Football League because the last 2 years they have been rubbish! and pointless.

The last youth side to be in that position was the YTS scheme which was primarily made up of schoolboys released from professional clubs and was an integral part of the Club's structure. They were not a token side in which the Club has, as far as I can see, beyond the provision of a strip no visible involvement.

We did several seasons ago have sides for whom Glen Knight was I believe employed as a Youth Development Officer.  There was very little publicity about them and I don't think they enjoyed the level of recognition/success that JGFC refers to.

If my understanding is correct the sides bearing the Welling United name over the past couple of seasons have been existing sides who have just had a change of name.  Without meaning any disrespect to those running these sides, which from my personal experience is a largely thankless task, I am of the view that until the Club is in a position to recruit and support its own youth sides we should not have sides bearing the name Welling United.
