I'm sure all Wings fans have their own thoughts on what they would like to happen in 2012 and I thought I would start a thread with a few ideas of my own. I think some are perhaps more likely than others. I hope that:-
we don't lose any of this fantastic squad of players at least until the end of the season,
if Andy Pugh does leave before his contract is up, he is snapped up by Manchester City for the bargain sum of £500,000,
we beat Woking (again),
all dubious refereeing decisions go our way,
Jamie, Parky and Clarkey do not pick up any red or yellow cards (this may need the help of the previous item),
a way is found to get Sky into the clubhouse and executive lounge,
the pigeons are finally evicted from the new stand,
all streakers at Wings matches are female (hope this doesn't contravene any equal ops. legislation),
a thriving local business (there must be some) offers to sponsor the building of covered accommodation at both ends of PVR in return for naming rights of the stadium. (I suspect we would be happy for the Wings to be playing at, for example, "The Elite Fish Bar Stadium" as long as everyone could keep dry on a rainy day),
Eric returns to YouTube with his rendition of "The Only Way Is Up" which has been recorded to celebrate our promotion,
when the fixtures are released, we have Southport away in August not December (lovely place Southport, look forward to going back there),
and lastly, and most importantly, that all Wings supporters have a happy, healthy and prosperous year.
Trying my best to keep things on a more sensible footing and factoring in cash flow and projected forecasts I believe the following list is obtainable.
1. Buy a large screen and fit it in front of the E&B stand so that it will keep it out of site and not spoil our view. As we have very limited advertising space, companies can have their adverts placed in the screen which will bring in added revenue.
2. The cold stone terracing could have 'understone' heating installed.
3. At either side of the terraces we could install beer/lager pumps.
4. Underneath the pitch we could have a designer label shopping outlet centre whereby those people that don't like football can do a bit of shopping.
5. We can ask East Thurrock United how to get Sky into the club house.
6. The executive lounge is posh enough so no need to spend money here. Although it could be split into sections so that like minded people will be grouped together (it would mean that Dogkilla will sit on his own).
7. We could install a wider range of draught lagers. By removing the 'bitter' pumps this would create the valued space.
8. Introduce a season ticket whereby you get a couple of free drinks at every home game.
9. We could install over head heaters at the entrance of the ground to help keep us all warm throughout the winter months. I have noticed that it works well in the shops I've been to.
10. And on a personal note, I'd like to be let out unsupervised a little more often.
