He was OK at times but got a few vital decisions totally wrong. Goalkeeper should have been off no question. How was it not a goal scoring opportunity when the ball ends up in the net?
I suppose he could argue that because it went in the net it wasn't denied.
Guy kicks the ball away in disgust and doesn't get booked. Blatant disregard for the rules.
Lino's were reacting to Truro hands going up. I would say at least 50% of their calls were wrong.
He should have sent himself off for denying a goal scoring opportunity for blowing too quickly.
Nobody could believe it when the bloke wasn't booked for hoofing the ball away right under his nose.
The Truro defenders were shouting offside as soon as the ball went past them without even looking to see who may have been behind them.
According to one of the ground hoppers who was chatting in the shop before the game the ref is supposed to be on the FA fast track. This chap also said seeing the refs performance at other grounds we could expect lots of bookings. Can only assume our ground hopper got his facts wrong. However I am wondering if this Mr. Coggins is related to the other ref of the same name?
Echo other comments, great loyal fans supporting their team throughout, allthough calling us northern was a classic, quote of the day for has to go to Sherpa - picture the scene, the melly in the corner up in the park end, goalie in the road end,
Russ shouts to the keeper "are you going to join them"
Reply from the keeper " No it to far"
Sherpa- "You came all the way from Cornwall, and you say thats is to far"

Was that not THE Mr Coggins then?
It could be I have read so much about him on the old BSBS forum I just thought THE Mr Coggins had already been to PVR. As always I am willing to stand corrected.
Excellent performance yesterday but I was concerned how thin the Truro keeper was, had the winds been as bad as they had been earlier in the week I reckon he would have blown away.
We were lucky if you believe what Lee Hodges (the new Gary Roberts) had to say:
"I felt we had done okay in the first half; we created two or three decent chances, but needed someone to get on the end of things. The first two goals for Welling changed everything but were very controversial in our view. "For their first goal, they put a cross in and one of their players deflected it on for another boy who was definitely ahead of everyone. Then, on the end of that, we conceded the penalty. I asked Tom Brooks if he had brought him down and he said: 'No, I palmed the ball away and he fell over me.' "So we went in at half-time having just gone 1-0 down at a crucial time with a penalty that wasn't. For the second goal, there was a coming together of Arran Pugh and one of their players and the ref was right there on the spot but let play go on, but the linesman, who is 25 yards away, then indicated a foul and they scored from the free-kick. "Then Les Afful was clear on goal when he was blatantly brought down - last man - but the offender only got a yellow card. I'm not saying we would have avoided defeat if these decisions hadn't gone against us, but there's no denying the officiating left an awful lot to be desired. They really have to get such important decisions right, and they didn't in this match."
Whilst I agree that the lino's performance wasn't the best to say the least in the first half, the level of abuse and foul language aimed at him was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.
It seems the be the same person/people game in/game out that think screaming and shouting obcentities , being intimidating and leaning over the hoardings trying to get in the face of the officials is acceptable, personally I don't. It's even worse given the close proximity of young children, what sort of example does that set?
Yes, the standard of officiating is awful at most games but remember, the reasons why they're officiating in this Division in the first place is that they're not good enough for League level.
I'm not sticking up for the officials, some of the decisions they make were truely pantsl but they do not deserve the abuse given to them. How do you think you would perform in your job if your manager / colleagues were screaming abuse in your face from less than a couple of feet away. I don't think you'd perform to your best either!
I have been to most home and away games at Eastleigh, Tonbridge, Dartford and E Thurrock this season and it' the same guy(s) that do it. In the first half of the Eastleigh game I was standing next to stewards who were close to throwing them out. I wish they had.
They are an embarrasment to the club and don't show us in the best light. Yes, light hearted banter is acceptable but personal, vulgar abuse isn't. No doubt the peolpe responsible think otherwise though.
I felt sorry for that young lino in the end. Nobody deserved that abuse and anyone that think he did needs to take a long, hard look at themselves.
No doubt this post will be removed but would be intersted to read people's comments who believe their eff'ing & blinding is perfectly acceptable.
The "Respect" campaign should applicable to fans as well as players.
The only fast tracking that bloke should have is out the door.

I agree with Lee Hodges' view of our pen, as i said after the game, imho the keeper saved the ball and Luis has ran into him, if he hadnt spilled it i dont think a pen would have been given.
I also felt their 9 dived for their pen and should have been booked, and Jack Evans never touched Afful who went down like a two dollar [insert] to try and buy a red card instead of having the will to have a shot, he was clear, he too should have been booked imho for simulation.

If the ref hadn't given it, it would have been a goal anyway. Whistle or not, nobody would have got anywhere near before Luis hooked it in.

J,
What you been saying now?
not guilty for a change - that lino has always been abused for as long as i can remember so i dont why there is suddenly an issue over it now
Ha ha, he's always full of gems like that - I partly go for the football and partly for his comments to the linesman and the opposing teams officials sitting in the posh seats!
