smileGood win in the end last night, didn'n think the goals would come but better late than never, players looked a little rusty after the weather inforced lay off. As a long time wings fan it was great to see 3 u18's on the bench last night and there goalkeeper warming up before the game. With finances at the club very tight to have our own youngsters coming through can only be a good thing and credit must go to Jamie and the coaching staff for giving them a chance. We have a good crop of U18's coming through im informed not just the lads on the bench last night, this is long overdue in my view, check on other clubs web sites many have players that have come through there academy's or u18's and so should we. It would be great to get other fans views. Come on you Wings.......

We won't know that until they have been given a chance, they may not be ready for conference south football just yet on a regular basis but dipping them in and out is the right way to go. Its the same if they were at Charlton or Millwall except we are at a lower level. Let's hope that one or two can come through it will save the club a lot of money. We do need a reserve side playing at a good level i agree.......

  1. All good points and lets hope we can be strong for the run in. I can tell you the U18's are very strong. They are in 2 semi finals, a quarter final and right up there in the League. Take a look at the U18 link and try and get along to some of the big games they have coming up.

Good points made

Only concern I have is that its a big jump from there to amke the first team-its a shame we have no reserve side as a stepping stone to first team football

We have reserve side in Kent League Division 2, not sure if any of the first team have played in it when coming back from injuries or not or if its just the youngsters.

Second Division

The reserves appear to have no connection to the first team which is ridiculous. Jamie needs to get his own man to run it his way so that their is consistency right the way through.

The problem is it would cost a lot of money to run a reserve team and that would mean less for the first team budget.

It would be useful to have somewhere for players coming back from injury and fringe players to get a game, and a middle step for the youngsters (what happens when they outgrow youth football?), but it would have to be funded somehow.
