This must be incredibly close this year. The team have performed minor miracles under Daisy and his team and that to me is what have got us to where we are, its a team performance.
Pughy would have no doubt been right up there but the choice willl I think be marginal
Louis Fazakerley, Ben Martin or Jack Obersteller for player of the season. All three have been consistently good throughout the season and we are a poorer team without them in the side.
I find myself swaying towards the defence for our player of the season. At the start, Ben Martin and Anthony Acheampong were excellent. However, Louis Faz has made the right-back position his own and I felt we missed him when he was absent. I know it seems strange, especially since we've scored loads and given away over twenty penalties.
Pires for me, just ahead of Parkinson and Fazakerley. He's been far more consistent than last season and got some very important goals.
I think had Holloway been at the club longer he'd certainly have come very close as he's been brilliant since joining - 5 clean sheets in his 10 matches shows how much of a difference he's made to our defence
Thats a load of bollocks to be fair. last season he had a couple of poor games, this year hes been very good. Not many games he doesnt keep running at defences. you are mistaking worst player for not being 100% perfect 100% of the time. hes possibly got the highest ball retention/passing percentage in the team.
I am really not sure some people even watch the games, but more to the point, someone who is CLEARLY one of the best performers and also a confidence player who has shown improvement this season, shouldnt really have to read guff that hes been the worst player at times.
Saying he still has the odd game where hes the worst player as your basis for not voting for him, is very harsh, They all have the ODD game where it goes pete tong, thats why they play in BSS.

Also ive done the ball retention stats for some games and Clarkey was top for most. Defenders (in general) were worse as many balls just launched up to halfway. I should have said final 3rd passing/retention.
PS not sure anyone has noticed but at Woking we actually set up identical to Brazil. So we really could sing its Just like watching Brazil if we hadnt got rid of the yellow kit.

I am with Sherpa on this (doesn't happen very often!)
Thought Jack O was unlucky not to win last season and I think his good level of performance is often taken for granted and goes unnoticed by the supporters. Had Faz been fit and playing all season I think he would have been in with a big shout.
I voted for Jack O last season and there's no doubt he's in contention again. However although I agree that Faz has missed a number of games through injury, in the games he's played, he's been MotM on numerous occasions and for me just edges Jack O out this time. Pires has had had some brilliant games this season but still has the odd game where he's probably our worst player rather than the best. For that reason, he would not make my top three.
Fact is we are fortunate enough to have so many good players, with such great effort from them as well. A tough decision, and everyone will have a different opinion.
Having said that, no way Pires pass retention is the highest ... that must go to a defender doing little square passes, always does.
Im not in the slightest bit concerned if you vote for Loick or not, thats personal choice everyone has a right to, I havent even decided who to vote for. My reaction (to a point youve now clarified and expanded upon) was due to singling out a player for having an occasional below par performance in his armour that would affect votes or the perception of a seasons performance. Just thought it was very harsh and a bit ill timed. Only my opinion. Me personally i cant dislodge Loick from the top 3 with a crow bar.
Im not too happy with the videos in terms of picture quality on the web uploads but its out of my hands, as pitchero refuse to allow any decent file size despite me badgering them. The Bar highlights and DVDs are ok though. What an archive of video we will have when we go up to look back on.
coyw!!

I agree there have been a few games when Pires has looked less than interested (I doubt that is for real just what it looked like).....Game in game out for Player of the season although Ialthough we have to vote vefore the play offs I would vote for the player that scores off his left buttock in the 99th minute to win them at Princes Park...LOL!!!

I'm sorry you were upset by my reason for not giving Loick my vote JgFc though I do rather resent your implication that I do not watch the games. I have missed only three games this season, home and away, and I assure you I watch them all closely.
I probably did not use the best wording in my post about Pires but let me make my view clear. He has improved massively this season and on his day can be virtually unstoppable. I think he should win Goal of the Season for his strike against Chelmsford. I think everyone will agree that since joining us his only problem has been playing to the best of his ability in every game and he has certainly done this much more often this season. If he is still here next season and continues to improve as he has done with his ability he may walk away with Player of the Season next year.
As Kevin says we all have our opinions and there are a good number of worthy candidates for this award this time. You say that all players have the odd bad game but in my view it is a long time since this happened to Faz or Jack O who would be my first and second choices for an award that to me should be about consistency.
By the way as we are nearing the end of the season can I thank you and congratulate you for the videos and interviews. They are to a fantastically high standard and I don't think there is any club in the league which produces anything better.
Just to confirm that the Player of the Year vote will take place on Saturday 14 April when we are at home to Eastleigh. Voting slips will be available at the WUSA table.

As I value the principle of teamwork and everyone staying last season after much adversity I will be doing the same as last year ... not singling out an individual as they all deserve it. Hence the novelty vote. Tamer Tuna, take a bow.

There's a difference, Mark, between Player of the Season and Welling folklore.
