Expecting a  strong team from Palace on Saturday according to the tannoy. Lets hope we get a decent crowd and they bring large numbers and our lot turn out in force.

We are playing some cracking football in pre season and the boys deserve a big crowd against probably the strongest team they will face in pre season, its our last home pre season and also one of Palace's last friendlies. Hopefully they will get a bit up on their site of the strength of their team as i think we suffered with Millwall, West Ham only putting something up late and Cambridge not at all. If Palace confirm early it will be a strong team we could get a couple of thousand down.

Palace boss confirms STRONG side coming to Welling

"The game against Welling is there for anybody who has missed a bit of pre-season or for others returning from injury," said Freedman.

"It will be for the lads who have not quite got 90 minutes under their belts so far, but it will be a strong side."

Quotes from this is croydon. Also says Speroni set to play for Palace.

Any of you that have not been to a friendly yet, need no further encouragement to see the Wings up against their strongest opposition of pre season on Saturday.

Palace confirming strong team  should help the gate get decent.

We must be close to seeing Jamies starting 11 for the first league game.

Any ideas what 11 it will be? Interesting choices to be made. Lets discuss.

Agree with most of team except must be Jamie Day for Kinch and Martin rather than AA, although its a tough call as all 3 Centre backs have looked good  in friendlies.

Although not technically gifted i picked Kinch over Day just to hold the midfield and let Clarke and Heally play, we actually win headers in midfield when he plays. All 3 CB's have looked good but AA and Franks seem to have formed a good understanding and impressed particulaly against West ham and Millwall.

Tomorrow could be similar to this.

Mott, Faz, Steller, Day, Franks, Acheampong/Martin, Healy, Kinch, Cumbers, Lafayette, Hughes-Mason

I think Clarkie is on holiday and Mainy is playing some of a game for AFC Wimbledon in a testimonial after Welling gave permission.

First game i think would be 4-3-3

Mott, Faz, Steller, Day, Franks, Martin/Acheampong, Healy, Clarke, Cumbers, Main, Hughes-Mason then we have a strong bench all chomping to keep the shirt when they get a chance.

I am inclined to agree with Tom for the line up for the first league game although there are still three friendlies to be played before then....

I would have Martin over AA myself. Kinchy will be used in certain games but not a first choice in a three man midfield for me. KHM has a long trip ahead and three games in a short space of time (if selected) so maybe he will be on the bench to start? In that case maybe Baker or my preference would be for F-J to start.

Also we have four league games in nine days at the start of the season (and two in three days to start with Chelmsford away on the Monday) so I reckon a lot of the players will get a chance in the opening games to stake a claim for a regular place.

I can see the thinking here, another thing, I wonder if Jamie is trying to do to much .

We have seen him wear the arm band in friendlies, in an important league game it must be hard to have the right view of how a game is going and make substitutions as a game is on going. Dont get me wrong,Jamie is a class act as a player, and he will be as a player, what is needed against selected opposition.

Kinch has improved greatly since signing, and has physical presence, with him, Healy,Clarke and Daisy...we have one of the best midfields in this league.

With Cumbers, Main, Hughes-Mason and Lafayette, we have a very potent strike force.

In defence obviously keeper Mott...Faz ,Steller,Martin,Acheampong and Franks we have solid players with attacking fullbacks.

I now I have named more than 11,and selecting a starting line-up is a good problem for Jamie.

It will be interesting to see who lines up Saturday against Palace.

I agree with JgFc... competeing to get and keep a shirt is just what we need along, with the team attitude we know the managment team have developed.

All is looking good for us I feel, both on the pitch and behind the scenes.

Daisy is the first name on the team sheet for me in midfield. We are always a far better team when he is in the middle, without exception. You can do the rotating when the winter comes or when the end of season is here.

I agree that Daisy should always be in the starting XI. He has left himself out of a few games and the team doesn't function as well without him in it. Diito One Joe - we nearly always look a better team when he is playing - adds a touch of class in midfield and always seems to have time on the ball - just needs to stay on the pitch for the entire game!

Big season needed from Captain Clarke who wasn't at his best last season in my humble opinion. Needs to get a few goals for us this season and I don't mean rebounds from his own penalties!

I agree with the fact that we have 'every' player in with a shout...an excellent bench again

We all can remember when there was either no one on the bench or players that were barely out of nappies

There,s no argument as to Daisy playing. and the need to change things will happen, lets hope not due to injury but to out wit opposition,or to bring a bit of muscle in. We wont have the luxury of resting players with such a small squad.

My starting 11 would be. Mott, Stella, Faz, Martin, Anthony, Healy, Daisy, Kinch, Clarke, Cumbers, Main.

On the bench... Franks, Hughes Mason, Lafayette.

We will see tomorrow the players Jamie is including.

We look strong, I cant wait for the real business to begin.

Won 2-1, Oberstellar and Baker. Daisy played in goal for the last 20 minutes when Mott - who came on for JT at half time - went off injured. Biggest scare for him came when Faz almost lobbed him for an own goal from 30 yards.

Very good win. Daisy had one save to make.

It was the ref who would not allow JT to come back on Palace bench were wanting JT to be allowed to come back on but ref said it wasnt allowed.

Interviews with Jamie Day and Jack Obersteller up later tonight and highlights to follow in due course.
