Gotta laugh at that comment about Maguires passing.
He has hit some fantastic balls that have carved teams up down the wings, with superb accuracy to feet of wide men which have then turned teams around in a split second and got us in the final third with the ball, I agree with the other points about hin entirely. It will please wingnut that Maguire has been released. He was a luxury we couldnt afford i think in a small squad. Theo is more versatile and raw. and can play different positions.
Daisy confirmed on his video interview that the Wings have signed Ross Lafayette and Theo Fairweather-Johnson on non contract., We also have the 6 17-18 year olds to "top up" the squad. (plus Flacky?)
I think Ross has showed he has a bit about him as pre season has gone on, weve had worse squad players and its down to him to compete with the forwards for a place. Hes also hit the post against Charlton and in one of the games he got in a great position but put it over the bar. He also set up goals and linked up well with the team. I think youve been a bit unfair on Ross, he hasnt been heralded as a marquee signing and has done enough to have plenty of Wings fans say they would sign him for the squad. .

Tom,
It doesn't please me that Maguire was released and a "luxury that we couldn't afford" is a very good description. Football is a game of opinions and mine is that the cut and thrust of BSS football isn't suited to him. Strangely I think he might actually do better at a higher level?
I like F-J and was impressed with him in the two games he played against us for Thamesmead last year. He is very raw but offers versatility which is very important for us and he can play wide and across the midfield. I remain to be convinced by Lafayette but I will support him as I do all our players. Both are non contract which is very shrewd on Daisy's part.
Still feel we need some sort of cover in the full back departments - a job that Sambrook did well for us in previous seasons.

Jamie said he has signed Ross and Theo on non contract on his video interview after Cambridge and released Danny.
Fraser can play right back and Faz can play left back. Not ideal but cover is there in the squad so the 3 center halfs need a good understanding if we are to swap the defence around, Jamie may go for Bohdan, Barney or Corey as cover and not move the center halfs about.
True we havent got a Sambrook but there is a lot more cover than people think, Daisy has done miracles to get a squad of 17 going on 25.
Personally i think we are stronger than last season, time will tell.
As i said i agree with most of your points about Maguire but he made 20 passes of 30-40 yards to feet that turned round teams and got us in the endzone. His passing can kill teams, just the rest of his game at this level is not strong enough. He could be a bit like Greenhalgh in if he goes higher level he gets more time on the ball and not knocked off it.

Both seem to be doing well for themselves. Was pleased to retain so many from last season but a shame to lose Parky and Loick, but in Franks, Lafayette, Main and Hughes-Mason I can see us being stronger than last year which is excellent news.
I must be watching a different pre season to a few people.
Lafayette is strong and his hold up play has looked good at times. However, aside from one goal against Faversham, he hasn't looked like scoring in the games I have seen (Cray Valley, Faversham, Millwall XI and Cambridge thus far)
McGuire is very neat and tidy on the ball - he keeps it well and has a good range of passing. However he doesn't look like his passing can hurt teams and he has far too easily brushed off the ball in some games and BSS is a tough, physical league at times. As someone said to me a slightly better version of Connor Heffernan from last year.
In my humble opinion, with a small squad to work with, I wouldn't keep either of them.
12 goals in 30 games last season for hemel hempstead in a team that finished 4th bottom of the Southern Premier league. Says on their website he can play out wide though so not sure how many games he was actually up front.
We need a full-back and I will be happy. It shouldn't be tough to find one at this time of year, there are still plenty of people floating about that haven't committed to a club, or have just been let go at the last minute like MacGuire.
All it needs it Fax and/or Obber to get a knock opening day and we are struggling already.
Good god? I didnt say play him there i said he CAN play there and those that have been to some friendlies would have seen him playing there. We are discussing cover not where would you play them.
