No, no, and thrice no. The ball wouldn't have ended up in the net were it hot for the defender's intervention. Had that been, for example Cumbers standing where the 5 was the goal would have rightly been given to Cumbers. So in this instance it should be an og.
The only thing dubious about the Premier League's Dubious Goals Panel is its existence; as with everything else the PL does it is all about money (goal bonuses).
I hereby start the Campaign for More Own Goals (CAMOG).
Well done on your win last night. You were by far the better team and just looked so more organised, bigger, stronger and quicker than us. As soon as we stepped into your half you pressed us incredibly well reducing us to going long. When our midfield did get the ball you smashed into us absolutly dominating the middle of the park. Scott Kinch is not a particulaly gifted footballer but he does such a good job for you and we are absolutly crying out for an ugly powerhouse type midfielder like him.
If that third goal doesn't go down as an own goal then every forward in this league will be claiming 40 goals this season.....
Cracking performance from the lads last night. I though Franks did very well at right back in Faz's absence and all the three midfield players worked incredibly hard.
However MOTM for me was undoubtedly Lafayette. I wasn't a big fan of his pre season and was not sure why Daisy was so keen to sign him. However he scored at the weekend and, after his cracker last night, you could see the confidence grow in him. He gave their centre halves no respite all night and showed some good link up play as well. Well played Ross and I am delighted, on the early evidence, that my previous assessment was wrong!
It was just a remarkable game in all areas, the defence look nervy in the first 20mins which lead to Chelmsford taking the lead from a human error by Martin, but other than that we were on top in every way possible. Most shots, most possesion, all the positive stats were in our favour. There wont be many games better than that this season, this will be hard to beat. Baker was probably my Man-of-the-Match, he was absolutley outstanding. 110% efforts given by all last night and if we play every game like we did last night, we would be promoted by february and an early goal of the season contendor too! There was one downside to the match too, which of course in this league, has to be the referee's. Poor decisions by all three of them. First half, a foul wasnt given by the linesman for an elbow in the face of which I assume was Cumbers. The other linesman allows the Chelmsford throw-ins to be given 10yards further up the pitch than when it went out. He also gave them a throw when it obviously came of a Chelmsford player. And of course the main ref, only giving a yellow card to the most vicious tackle worthy of a red card youll see in this league all season, but other than the refs, tremendous game in all. Well played Welling. COYW!
Next up at PVR: Sutton United on Monday 27th - 3pm KO Next up on the road: Tonbridge Angels on Saturday 25th - 3pm KO
The tackle on Kinchy wasnt as bad as you all think.
We had lots of players all play well last night, we just need to not switch off, we look a really good team again this season. Battered Chelmo on their own patch, which is always a very good thing. Onwards and upwards.
