Hang on... Last season he was non contract wasnt he? So he could do what he liked even if morally it isnt great (looks like he played 8 times for them last season). This season Jamie has said its been dealt with, hes been fined and Jamie said if he does it again hes gone.
As for what goes on facebook, I have never requested to add a player on there, any that i am friends with have requested the add. They are semi pro footballers and deserve some leeway in their private life (not sunday football obviously). So to get dug out over facebook is a bit stalker-ish)

I personally couldnt give a toss what Dover, Chelmsford, Dartford or Woking do. Jamie Day has only EVER done what is best for Welling United FC, he kept the squad together a couple of seasons ago. He has decided to fine him and keep him and thats what we need to remember. I am sure Ben will be busting his balls off when he returns to make up for upsetting some people.
Saying Ben should be released is cutting your nose off to spite your face. But his fine could go towards the end of season night :) More barbecue spare ribs.

Let me ask you all a question. Would Dover Athletic, Chelmsford City, Dartford or Woking have tolerated this?
Once again WUFC has been made to look amateur.
Personally I couldn't give a s**t what any of those clubs would have done in the same situation.
We have a manager who has dealt with it so we should let him manage as he sees fit. I don't agree with every decision he has made but he has got far more right than wrong.

When I was told about this on Saturday I was pissed off to say the least. After seeing the manager's comments after the game I fully respected his comments (if not fully agreeing with them) and accepted that the matter was dealt with. After reading this thread I wonder weather the manager has been misled?
Whatever the case I still support the management 100%
My comment above about WUFC being amateurish is reffering more to our off-the-field activities.

Jamie was very honest in his interview, but clearly not the isolated "to get match fitness" impression that has been given.
Was slightly concerned Jamie said "if he'd asked I might have let him". I can see pro's and con's to it in isolation, there is always an injury risk up against gaining match fitness, but week-in week-out, no, shouldn't be happening.
Whether it is right or wrong, the matter has been dealt with as he's been fined. In my opinion he was our best player in the play-offs last year, especially in the home game against Sutton and he is an asset to the squad.
I fully trust Jamie's judgement on all issues and if this is how he decides to deal with it then I fully support it.

Yes, he was our best player in the play-offs. Hasn't shown that same form so far this season. Perhaps we now know why! This could end up being a positive thing as hopefully when he is back he will be more focused, fresher, and ready to prove a point.
It isnt the first time this has happened....I could name three others over the years....It should be e pre requisite in the contract that this doesnt happen....

If everyone who had ever played Sunday football had been sacked some Welling legends would never have played enough games to have that status,
I believe that should someone wishing to play Sunday football should obtain permission from the manager. It could help players like Ryan Flack or John Main with confidence and fitness as long as it's not hungover park games.
Also glad to see Jamie's pretty angry at the team, think too many times after defeats he's been a bit too lenient on them in interviews. We're still 6th in the table though, with 3 games in hand on Staines, so no need for us to blow this blip out of proportion - a few changes do need to be made though
I think its time for Jamie to be a serious man manager and get strict with inividuals.
A disciplined sqaud with a winning attitude is what we want to see,not easy to achieve we know, Jamie has shown real potential, and I for one will be prepared to pay my money and give him time.
Part of supporting a team as we well know is taking the results as they come, and sticking with it, win, lose, draw, human error, clash of personalies, and all that can effect the running of a football club.
Jamie and his team will deal with what ever comes to pass. Im sure.
I agree Christian, no need to go crazy. A couple of wins on the trot and we will be back in the mix.
Lets remember this is Jamies first job as a manager at this level, he has done an excellent job and I see no reason why he wont continue to learn and improve.
