Despite the club recently spending a fair amount on leafleting campaigns, I've noticed that we don't even use the FREE publicity tools available to us.
I've checked two recently published articles on the website and noticed that I'm the only one who has used the Facebook share button above them...
The website and videos are an invaluable piece of publicity, and were originally what attracted me to the club. Every click on the share buttons is the equivalent of dozens if not hundreds of interactive leaflets being sent in an instant. People get to actually see the attactive football the team are playing at the moment, and it increases the view count of the videos on Youtube.
Although we're mainly debating the ticket prices at the moment, let's be honest. The board aren't going to allow any significant price changes for ages. All we can do is promote the club as best as we can at present. Then if prices do drop then at least those that have viewed these articles and videos may already be in the mindset of wanting to go to a Welling FC game.
Let's have an experiment, and see how high we can get the number of Facebook and Twitter shares on the two articles above.
Unfortunately I don't have Twitter account so somebody else is going to hav to get the ball rolling on that one.
On a separate note does anybody know if and when we're doing another leafleting campaign?

Considering this thread has had 87 views (albeit many will be repeat views) I'm quite shocked that the two above articles have only had two and three Facebook shares respectively.
Now I refuse to believe that only a handful of people on here have Facebook or twitter accounts...
Surely supporters can't be ashamed to show their friends and family that they support their local team?
Twitter is free , even if it's a user name that isn't real , there are a few non-league twitter sites now that retweet most things , in turn followers will add. The more that happens the more search engines like google will pick it up .. even if its someone just typing in 'welling'. .. definitely better than nothing , espescially if there's youtube footage to link to it.
So so far we've had 6 Fb shares and two tweets for the goal of the month competition, and just 3 Fb shares and one tweet for the Hayes v Yeading highlight....
How is it that we can get people out leafleting but can't get people to just log into their Facebook account and click on the two buttons at the top of each button. Only takes 30 seconds!
Well it hasn't been a roaring success so far with on 8 and 7 Facebook shares.
Interestingly I've had a bit of feedback from friends such "I didn't know you supported Welling..." then got into how Welling play fairly attractive football, and the pricing compared to the extortionate prices of the Premiership. A couple of friends are now fairly interested in coming to a game. It will be interesting to hear if anyone else has had any similar feedback or any feedback at all.
On another positive note, the view count of the videos in the articles have increased significantly, proving this does work.
Also it didn't hit me till this morning, that although Facebook buttons are free and from that I stated it was "free publicity". What I forgot was that the website and videos aren't free. The website costs money to keep up and maintain and the videos aren't free because of the cost of the camera. Therefore this is another reason why we should be taking full advantage of E-tools like Facebook and twitter, so that the time and money we spend on the website and video equipment isn't wasted.
So anybody who hasn't yet clicked on the Facebook and twitter buttons at the top of the two articles above please do so. Any problems using the share buttons, please PM me. Thanks.
