In recent weeks I have been in talks with Alan King from Meridian Radio
MERIDIAN RADIO have provided entertainment and information to the patients and staff of hospitals in Greenwich and Woolwich since 1961. Meridian Radio is now available online and is dedicated to providing a local radio service to South East London
Both Eric Brackstone and Myself have been invited down to the station as I thought for a meeting but it seems we will be on the Alan King show between 6-8pm
We have had some great ideas put to us by some of the people at the station which include
Having an Advert and Jingle created for the station
Anouncing our results , giivng a preview on a Saturday morning and a possible outside broadcast
If you have a good product to market........then launch it!!!
Welling United have proven already they are serving up the right product on the pitch, we just have to get out there and tell the others what they are missing.
Argh, forgot all about it and only caught the last few minutes - if somebody could bullet point the main discussion points on here that would be much appreciated
in the club shop tomorrow we will have copies of the Meridian Radio - The Fundraising Album £5
Featuring Blur, Oasis, Slade,Take That, Squeeze as chosen by you and many more! Many of the 14 tracks have connections with Greenwich. All proceeds go towards the cost of broadcasting Meridian Radio.
Track list Blur, Parklife Squeeze, Cool For Cats Billie Piper, Because We Want To Take That, The Garden Stereophonics, A Thousand Trees Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, Shakin All Over Feeder, We Are The People Slade, Gudbuy T'Jane Oasis, The Importance Of Being Idle Marty Wilde, Teenager In Love Bon Jovi, It's My Life Ocean Colour Scene, For I Told You So Culture Club, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? Buddy Holly, Not Fade Away
Many Moons ago, CAFC supporters use to have a radio show on Time FM on Sunday nights, basic format were 3 supporters talking all thing Charlton, they talked about the game they had just seen, mentioned up and coming events and had a phone ins and guests in the studio etc. One of the presenters would do the live commentary from away games. on the station.
This had to stop when CAFC was being paid to be covered by a larger radio station.
Perhaps this maybe something that could be pursued by Welling United (initially as a trial period or as a pilot.) with meridian - today's game would have made a great radio show listening and talking point for phone ins.
This is great for the club. I've been listening on the train and in my car using the Tunein radio app on my iphone Just search Meridian and the app also works for windows and android phones.
Meridian Radio doing a great job again tonight promoting us
Alan Kings show at 6pm (Which we sponsor) gave us great coverage He is at the game tomorrow as well
Also Peter Finch who is currently on has promoted us to the Charlton fans who cant get a ticket for tomorrows game and urged CAFC fans to come to Welling
Hi Dave agree with you also music more to my taste, reserve me a CD for tuesday, also felt Parklife sounded great even after the fourth time of playing it, perhaps as our ground is PVR and Danson Park is next door it and it is also a feel good song the player should runout to it.

This is excellent news, well worth building a partnership with Meridian, from what i heard of the disgraceful BBC Kent, no more then a very quick passing mention of us breaking the conference South record, preferring to concentrate on their Dover favourites hanging on for a great 3-2 win against the bottom side, keep up the good work
Did anyone notice the music at PVR today? It was from Meridian Radio's charity CD which is still available in the shop. I found the music more to my taste than our usual offering. In fact I liked it so much I bought the CD
I'd like us to go back to our old run out song Aint no stoppin us now by McFadden and Whitehead. It was the song that most of the long term supporters heard for years as we ran out. Bring it back.

Indeed, whats PUTRID is i still have the audio somewhere where 2 seasons ago Davison said LIVE ON AIR we will cover the Wings if they are doing well. That became Well you arent in Kent so we wont cover you unless you play a Kent team.
Hopefully the tie in with Meridian can develop and they can be the clubs official broadcast partner. Would LOVE Radio Kent to be stopped from broadcasting from PVR as lets face it all they will do for us is lower the gate as some away fans will stay in and listen to their team. You can swallow that if they cover you well and you get a fair crack of the whip. When you are sent to coventry and never covered however... there is no downside to stopping them broadcasting from park view road when it suits them to cover one of THEIR teams.
We wouldnt lose anything and if they have kent teams visiting us and want to cover the games then they can do that if they re instate us as one of their teams for EQUAL coverage.

Wings got performance of the day on Radio (Not quite) Kent, easily the third time during this run.
Thanks guys, but you can stick to Ebbsfleet and Dartford.
One of their presenters Ben Croucher was bigging up the Wings on twitter. He will get in trouble for saying Well done to Welling and that Welling are hugely friendly. I think he will get away with it as all tweets are personal views.
Be careful Ben... Its Radio Kent policy to ignore Welling and pretend we are in Yorkshire.

At least until Saturday against Dover when they will no doubt cover us and refer to it as a Kent derby
Live website commentary on Dover V Welling tomorrow, surprise surprise, i wonder how many times they call it a Kent Derby, of course of the commentator will be a Dover supporter, so we know who they will really be backing, we must not lose this one!!!!! & if we win i hope all Welling fans to text in & gloat!!!!!
Gary , as ever it was a great advert for us , lots of chat about how we are now finally getting out into the Community And they are happy to help us in anyway they can Spoke about Saturdays upcoming match and the fact that people can get the chance to meet Billy Bonds Kerry Dixon and Paul Canoville
These monthly stints on their show can only boost the clubs profile , even if its to the small following that they have online
I listened to the complete show and was very impressed with the presentation put across by John Parry and Paul White highlighting many good points about the activities ongoing at our club.
And Alan King (the presenter) was extremely helpful, as always, in adding his comments to help us to promote our club into the Community.
