We played well second half, their keeper made some good saves. Talking to some Grimsby fans on the bus just now, they reckon we're better than most of the teams they've played this season.
A good fight against a team who have far greater resources than us, good attendance and takings in the bar, and salisbury and dover both dropped points - not a bad day really
Good overall performance today, could have easily had a draw. Proved we could compete in the league above albeit we would need some reinforcements. A few negatives I won't go into as thought team put on a good show, I'm sure others will be of the same opinion.
VeryVery goodperformance against a very good team..anyo who criticises that is a bloody idiot.
Except...I thought AA was man of the match. Club seem more switched on today. 2nd burger van, which did a rip roaring trade at half time and a match sponsor. Letting kids in for a quid was a good idea as well. Thought we did well. I'm happy not to have the replay, lets go to Staines, win and go top.

Compare their excellent 200 plus to the idiots from Lincoln City when we were in the conference A credit to their club today .

Made a decent account of ourselves today and a good test for us if we aspire to Conference Premier. Grimsby are a good side, quick on the break and full time telled on us at the late stages.
Total respect for their supporters who obviously aren't used to changing ends and was great to see two sets of fans at one end in the first half. Spoke to a number of them and they had nothing but praise for us today and for the game we gave them.
Hope they go all the way to Wembley and have a good run in the league-minus the drum!
Yep...an excellent day for me (apart from the result)....I enjoyed it that we competed for 90 mins.......on another day we would have scored a couple more......Now back to the league and with Salisbury dropping points we can go top on Tuesday IF it beats the weather
Thought Welling done well today, 1st half quite even thought Grimsby were always edging it with general play, welling looked a bit rushed when they got the ball? but 2nd half looked stronger and if it wernt for there keeper with two good saves could have been happy days and the next round for the wings! Was a good finish for there 2nd but like many have said already i spoke to a few grimsby during the game who saw Ebbsfleet and Dartford this season and said we are on about the same level!
I also was speaking with the so called agent of Anthony Acheampong? today who says there is a few teams looking to sign him?the agent told me was related to Leon Braithwaite! could be a load of crap?
Proud to be a Wings fan today thought the team were fantastic throughout. Also agree about Grimsby fans really nice people. Felt a bit of a twit when asked 2 in shop if they had a good journey and they had only come from Plumstead
Whilst not wanting to start a "no not again scenario" a quote from the Grimsby fourm not knowing any substance
Speaking to a Welling fan afte rthe game, he was saying they couldnt afford a replay, travel expenses etc, and the players havent been paid for 2 weeks. No idea how true this is :/
Big Ben said the other day (i think after Truro?) The players got a christmas drink. Cant see them getting a drink yet no wages. I heard we are signing David Beckham next week and the Council are building us a 10 million pound stadium, not sure how true these are though.
Looks like we were even more unlucky, looks a handball by Devitt in the box when they got the second goal.
Ref could have missed two big points in either box as well as booking around 10 players.

Until such words come from the club then it's just rumour.
Very proud of how far the boys got in the trophy. Good experience, extra money in the bank and we took Woking's scalp on the way! And of course we get to roll out the old cliche of being able to 'concentrate on the league', which is more important!!
Thought we made a fantastic account of ourselves as a club. Was a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch, you can see that Grimsby are a good side. I have no issue with us losing when we play with that commitment and style. I thought we were superb throughout.
Good to see from the Grimsby forum that the majority of their fans also despise the tone-deaf idiots banging away on the drums. I made a comment as I walked past at the end of the first half "Oh what a surprise - its being played by a 15 year old" (probably not the wisest thing to do I admit) and was immediately confronted by knuckle-dragging cavemen who couldn't wait to have a tear up
Despite the impression that the issuing of ten yellow cards (for which I suspect both clubs may be fined) must have given those not present that the two teams spent 90 minutes kicking lumps out of each other, those in attendance know that this was not the case. The game was played in a very sporting manner and I can't recall a single intentionally bad tackle.
I think that all Welling fans were impressed by the general behaviour of their large contingent of supporters and there are now quite a few posts on their forum which are very complimentary about both Welling's team and hospitality.
I wish them good luck for the rest of the season in both the league and the Trophy. If the two clubs are not in the same division next season, it might not be a bad idea to invite them back to PVR for a pre-season friendly. I suspect that a number of their fans who came would be quite happy to visit Welling again. They would be very welcome (though preferably without the drum).
Interesting that my post above has already found its way onto the Grimsby forum with a couple of their fans saying they would like to visit Welling again and another suggesting that Welling are invited to Blundell Park with the gate money covering Welling's costs. I must say I wouldn't mind spending a day or two in a sunny Cleethorpes in July. By then of course Grimsby could well be a Football League club again , FA Trophy holders or both (as York managed) so a friendly at PVR might draw in quite a few of our own fans as well as a good number from Grimsby. Certainly seems worth considering as long as we're not both in Conference Premier next season and could be one of the games to kick off the 50th anniversary celebrations.
Can I just say how impressed I was by all the fans and officials that I met.
I was also very impressed by your team, they played really well and in my humble opinion I thought you deserved a replay.
I really hope you are promoted as on that showing you will be a match for a good few teams in the BSBP and if we don't manage to achieve promotion at the end of this season I look forward to visiting your club again.
