Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Whilst the normal forms of sponsorship are all very important to a club, I think there could be a chance for supporters to get together and contribute to a fund solely to bring in a loan signing or a new signing to help the club go that final hurdle this season. Whilst I think it should be as little or as much as people want to put in, if you got 100 people and the average contribution was £20, that'd be £2,000 for Jamie to use, on top of any other funds that can be made available or from the Boost the Budget scheme. Presumably £2k would allow us to bring in a loan signing or two?
Good post Chris and very generous offer. I think IF Jamie wanted to get another player you are looking till the end of the season. I would guess you are looking for around 1500 to give Jamie a chance of getting a decent player even if the club had to pay part of their wages.
It is an IF though as he seemed to be saying Barney has an opportunity to grab the shirt after Saturday. Maybe WUSA can ask Jamie if he would like donations to hepl bring in a player for the rest of the season (Whatever the position).

I'm a little dissapointed that we have n't strengthened following the recent injuries. We've had no more new players arrive since the arrivals of Guthrie and McLaren and since then we've won 3 FA Trophy games. I had hoped that some of that prize money be reinvested in to the squad. I can understand why it has n't and the reasons are pretty obvious. Saturdays appaling attendance of 516 underlines why. There are many reasons for this, not least, the clubs commerical ineptitude over many years (no blame at all to the current commerical manager!).
I do not contribute to the boost the budget scheme. Quite simply I believe the club take such funds for granted. I have not, and will not, hand money over to the club when they have shown, and continue to show, such a poor example of running a business.
But this is different. The management staff have worked miracles this season. Every single player, (with the possible exception of one who seems more interested in nightclubbing than playing) has played with pride and passion to get us into this position. We are in with a great chance of achieving something historic- our first title in 28 years, in this our Semicentennial year.
It seems to me that with 19 games to play in just 12 short weeks Jamie desperatley needs our help for the final push. We can of course do that by getting behind the team- at home, away and in Truro. But if the manager wants some money for a loan or two then I'd be happy to put £100 into a pot on the basis that it goes on that alone. As a supporter said to me on Saturday "Laffette works so hard he deserves to be a champion".
Lets make it happen.

I believe that was me
I don't want to be critical in anyway, there is no point. The recent run should only bring positives.
We have the chance to do something we might not see again for a very long time, so lets not miss out over something relatively small in the grand scheme of things. I would hope the club will dig deep for Jamie. There must be some "contingency" money surely ... you can't run a business turning over 100s of 1000s a year and not have £500 accessible to you at short notice.
With five home games coming up in three weeks (late Feb/early March) I think we should push the boat out a little now for a fortnight at least and get in that one extra player.

That makes me laugh - it seems to suggest that we have good financial management - I would suggest that history shows that this may not be the case.
Also, would massively help to promote in the press "promotion push" budget .... there are so many local people that don't even realise we are in with a chance of going up ...
That's why I've been trying to encourage people to share the match reports on social networking sites like Facebook.
Now we are pushing for promotion and breaking records, we should be encouraging friends and family who have businesses to advertise with WUFC though shirt/ball/match sponsorship and/or advertising hoardings. The shirt sponsorship at £70 is a bargain! To have your company name advertised in every matchday programme and on the website for the rest of the season and get a signed shirt, which wouldn't look bad on the wall of the office/shop as it would show links with the local football club. If we shifted the remaining 18 shirt sponsorships, that alone would raise £1260. Surely there must be 18 supporters with £70 to spare.
Also why don't we do another raffle? The Christmas one seemed to do well.

I agree Chelwing. I know full well what the answer is, but what the answer is and what it should be, are different things.
I know you know Kevin. It was just the notion that we would have proper financial management in place that made me chuckle. Of course we should but given they can not even produce a budget and tell us the extent of the debt, the idea of a contingency budget is funny. I doubt they know what it is.
Is there any way such a scheme could be set up, so that the money goes straight into a player fund? I'm sure there'd be plenty of people willing to part with £20 if they knew for sure it was going to the manager to be used. And there's people who are willing to part with more, such as Chris.
I'm sure the club would welcome extra funds, even if it is only to be used for players. A big push could be all the club needs to secure top spot.
In that case would fans be happy to contribute additional funds to "Boost the Budget" for the coming months or look at a separate fund "Promotion Push" which would allow help with any new players
A Promotion Push fund sounds just the ticket. I think there are plenty of people like me who are happy to make a donation, but want a guarantee that it is going directly, and solely, towards efforts to strengthen the squad.
Also, would massively help to promote in the press "promotion push" budget .... there are so many local people that don't even realise we are in with a chance of going up ... just the word promotion in the paper will get another few bodies through the gate.

Not that generous, he'd said £200 initially to me
Realised I could n't afford £200. Not with the kind of bills my greedy landlords charging me!
