Poor performance. Mott saved penalty, which looked a correct decision the mile and a half away you are at the other end of the pitch. Second best all night. Roscoe missed an empty goal - having beaten the keeper he put it over the bar. We gave the ball away almost endlessly, five in midfield but we hardly got a look in and the defence looked fragile. Main set up our goal at the end, Roscoe deserved it as I thought he was virtually the only player (with Mott I guess) to play with any real credit. Need to bounce back on Saturday. Referee was particularly hopeless tonight - he was so keen to let the game flow that he decided to whistle for virtually nothing, however blatant. Thought we should have had a penalty in the fits half but we got what we deserved tonight.

Did n't go to the game last night as at work, but looking at the line up I can't say I'm surprised we lost.

5 central midfielders? I've heard of a christmas tree formation but that seems to be more of a christmas pudding!

Really can't see what Jon Main is doing at the club. We can't afford to pay a senior player £200-£300 a week just to make a 10-20 minute cameo apperance at the end of a game. It can't be down to fitness now. The management obviously don't rate him. To be fair it look's like he's gone on and got an assist last night.

Any idea when Guthrie is back?

Mainy will possibly get a chance now after two defeats and a change of formation. He did ok when he came on set the goal up and found a great position to tap in but the ball never reached him, he found the same position at Dover aswell despite being on for 3 minutes. If 5 in the middle didnt work then 4 in the middle and 2 up front will be worth a try. The thing with Mainy is he might not be hammering back 4s but he can feed off Ross who does batter them and go for 50/50s and hold the ball up and if he gets a chance you would bet him to score, he also presses when they have the ball. If he is fed up with not starting and gets a chance then its down to him to do the business.

PS Ross got hammered off the ball in first minute, they clearly thought hurt him and you hurt us, Whilst the ref had no chance as he had his back to it, The linesman who then failed to give a penalty should have seen it. I think he was the local linesman who replaced the other one who didnt turn up and to be fair he was awful or didnt have the confidence to flag for important decisions.

Reminded me of an old Tony Reynolds story where the manager told John Parry to get in an opponents face from the off, the match started and Parry immediately walked up to the player and punched him in the face, Job done.

Things go against you when you dont play well or work hard. Their penalty that was given... ref has a poor view, and is less of a penalty than the one he never gave to us previously, the guy was on his way down looking for a penalty. The ref has stood 2 yards away when their 8 gets up and puts his hands to Kinchys neck, i thought raising hands was a red? Dont know if the ref was a lower league ref stepping up but he didnt impress me at all.

Joe has been amazing this year and for me Player of the Season, but gave the ball away lots and looked off the pace. Second goal was down to another loss of possession. Whats important is that we bounce back from a poor display. At Dover we were excellent for an hour so Sutton is probably the only poor performance since Maidenhead away, thats not to be sniffed at and we can get back on a good run.

Possibly Saturday, but more likely Tuesday.

I wasn't at the game last night and was slightly surprised by the starting 11. However, regardless of formation, we should have still had enough quality there to beat Sutton; sounds like they just worked harder than us.

Just a little bit of perspective required boys and girls.

Last night was a poor performance but I expect the management team and players are well aware of that. However we should give credit to Sutton (and Dover in the second half) who had the audacity to be better than us. I was surprised at the tinkering and the formation we went with and it didn't appear to work. However the manager knows what is best and he hasn't done an awful lot wrong after three years in the job and we are lucky to have him.

Lest we forget that we WON 12 league games in a row prior to Dover (that is not 12 unbeaten but 12 VICTORIES) which was phenomenal and the best run in this league since its inception.

We have not become a bad team overnight so we need to support the management team and players and help them get back on track starting (hopefully) this weekend.

Up the Wings!

Agreed Lads, WHY is he not used more? I just don't understand it?

He's had a chance to prove himself since August, with dozens of training sessions ... and clearly he hasn't been up to it or he would feature more, either as sub or as a starter.

Especially now with Guthrie out - Doesn't make sense. It's a real chance for him.

Generally we have been a 4-3-3 team or 4-5-1 with some pace in the wide areas on one side with Theo FJ or KHM and the skill and passing ability of One Joe on the other side.

We have also dabbled in 4-4-2 with Guthrie in the starting XI a few times.

I don't see Main working in a 4-3-3 either as central striker or in one of the wide berths. if we play 4-4-2 then Guthrie would appear to be the manager's first choice. Main has had one or two chances to impress from the off and not taken them. However he must be frustrated to only come on when we are a) well in control of a game a la Boreham Wood or b) trying to drag back a lost cause a la Sutton last night. In my humble opinion he seems destined to be a (super) sub during the rest of the season. Lafayette and Main could work together but we have had months to work on that in training and the manager seems to prefer other formations. Also we then have a rigid 4 in midfield which might affect what others offer to the team?

Most of the 12 match winning streak was built on a fluid 4-3-3 with a bit of tinkering here and there so I was more than a little surprised how we set up last night after one defeat (a game where for 45 minutes we passed the opposition to death)

IN DAISY I/WE TRUST.

I did think we missed our chance after going in level at half time. We often play well but unlike you dont have the top quality strikers to dispatch our chances.

I sincerely hope win the league. All the best of luck for the remainder of the season.

We have played our best when at pace and fluid......so Main would slow things down for me

If he is so out of favour then I can't understand why his contract hasn't been cancelled by mutual consent. Either give him a chance or get rid so that he can play his football, and we can save some money to put towards someone who will be given more than 10 minutes per game

Mutual consent implies both parties are happy to cancel a contract.

Perhaps the manager and/or player don't want to do that?

You may be correct. I'm all for giving him a chance but it was a mistake not to just get him on non-contract given his injury/fitness history
